The dozer blade and the side sponsons are magnetized so they can be popped on and off as needed. I also put a magnet in the turret so I could put the search light or hunter killer up there. Other then finishing a few of the extra pieces its ready for use now.

Which leads me to my next project. I have decided to enter the LPC this year (first time for me) My vow is to paint the following:

gallery_33706_7498_344352.jpg

One of the pile of bits is going to be my count as Astorath the Grim who is right now pegged up and about ready for his base coat after he gets one more pass with some sand paper.

Another pile of bits is going to be a librarian. The base model is forge worlds Master Sevrin Loth who's kit I picked up a few months back mainly for bits from his honor guard but I figure since I have the model I may as well use it.

The last pile of metal is 5 old death company figs that I stripped down to reuse with my new paint scheme. Going to paint them up as regular assault marines.

hopefully I can get this all done before the dead line for LPC. Little over a week per fig is hopefully enough time.

Dude that is a mighty fine mini much less chaplain!!

Hats off and thanks for sharing!!

Ty :-)

Now, I have another update. Gotten a fair bit of work done on my Astorath:

what an intrigueing (sp?) concept....I would have never thought egyptian for the BA, but it really is awesome. great work man.

I have always been into Egyptian art. I tried to do jackal heads for a thousand sons army I was working on a few years ago using beakie helms which didn't work out so well, mainly cause i'm not so hot using green stuff so when I saw the ones from puppet wars I ordered a bunch. I thought they would work out pretty well as death masks for my Sang Guard :-)

Looking great man ! you have a break down of the army list your shooting for ?

No army list that I am really working for. Just painting to paint atm. I'll probably get to the point were I can run a Dante Wing, A Death Company and a more standard BA lists at some point but it is mostly whatever I feel like painting at the time. Think I still have a drop pod, storm raven, two razor back, a vindi, a othere squad of sang guard and probably another assault squad to paint up in the pile of bits and boxes but I am sure I will get something else before I get through all that.

Anyway, picture time! I have finished all the items for my vow. Looks like I picked just about the right amount of stuff.

I have more pics but the gallery here is being funny and I dont want to mess with it too much right now. If you are interested you can see more on my WiP facebook page --> http://www.facebook.com/TheGnomeworks

next project is most likely a dreadnought for my oldest boy since he has been after me for a while for one he can play with. until next time...

Next little project has been finished. My oldest son has been after me to paint him a "robot" (he's four) every since I painted my dreadnought a while back. He picked out a purple paint out of the bargain bin at one of my local stores a few visits ago and asked me to paint it using that. I picked up an AoBR dreadnought last weekend when I was at a store playing and have been working on it this week.

next project will be something to give my army a little more fire power. Pics when I have them

Next project is up on the table. working on a stormraven. I have spent a good deal of time the last week cleaning up the plastic. Right now I am trying to figure out what to do with the turret as I am not a big fan of the servitor bubble. I have made some tweaks after looking at pics online. Could use some thoughts if people have them. My main issue atm the the air intake or w/e it is in the middle of the back part of the raven. It looks a little big without the turret there.

current mock up using mostly poster tack atm:

update time!

progress on the raven has been a bit slow, mainly because it is such a large mode with lots of little details.

I made a few modifications to the basic design.

I added some etched brass:

gallery_33706_8353_524590.jpg

I got rid of the servitor turret and turned it into a sensor array:

gallery_33706_8353_1813044.jpg

And I used some magnets to attach the guns under the wings:

gallery_33706_8353_1871592.jpg

gallery_33706_8353_343499.jpg

Then I finally started painting

gallery_33706_8353_751557.jpggallery_33706_8353_536029.jpggallery_33706_8353_1366050.jpggallery_33706_8353_995896.jpggallery_33706_8353_1516791.jpggallery_33706_8353_1406745.jpggallery_33706_8353_520015.jpg

still need to finish up the guns and do another round of the final orange plus some edge work but moving along.

once I get the raven finished I have my next project sorted:

thanks for looking

Man I wish I had the money to splurge on FW like that...

At least you can be counted on to put all of that to good use :)

But for some reason an orange bird just makes me cringe...I feel like it could use a much bigger patch of white somewhere in the center to break up the color.

Looks like I have to raid your bits box again. Looking great man I like the Ivy idea and The purple marine are better then most I've seen. Keep it up ! We got to get together maybe with Hanky and have a painting day.

actually I do have one bit for you, I forgot to bring it out that last time I was over :-D

I wanted to order more but I tried to limit myself a bit so I would get it painted up in a reasonable amount of time before finding something else shiny to work on. :-)

It's a little hard to see in the pics I posted but the side panels (were the doors/bolters get mounted) are actually white.  I'll post up some more pics when I finish it up this week, few more details to do.

Very mean looking librarian you have there. How did you make the flames coming out of his hand?

Your force looks amazing! One of the best Space Marine armies I have seen so far.

I started with this bit from the chaos possessed kit:

gallery_33706_8353_2039662.jpg

then added some green stuff:
