Well I think I need to start a WIP thread...

My first vow for October was a 5 man Tactical Squad & Knight Commander Cassiel IV.

Trying to post pics from mobile wish me luck.

I am thinking that I might tone down the tabard with painting the yellow Caliban Green, Having the chapter symbol and the squad one yellow might be enough.

Dragonforge is your friend, Jeff is a great guy and his stuff are pure quality, he is hoping to re-do the Concrete Rubble bases line which I have so I am holding off ordering till he gets a bigger line in...

But he has some really nice line, Lost Empires & Sanctuary look damn nice.

Need some opinions on Knight Commander Cassiel...

I am a little unsure with the front.

I can't paint fully assembled :)

Arkley, I think your Blades look great! I really like the deep red with the yellow icons and the black weapon casings really work. I think the eye lenses should be green to tie them to the Unforgiven more, plus blue might give them too primary a color palette. I'd also suggest green for the wax color on the purity seals.

On the tabard, I would not have gone with the yellow rope, instead I would do a Vermin Brown (new color name: Skrag Brown) base for the rope, a Devlan Mud (new color: Agrax Earthshade) wash, and then a highlight with Vomit Brown (new name: Tau Light Ochre). The ochre color would still tie in some with the yellow without being the brighter yellow color, which could tone that center down some, but accentuate your yellow icon and band on the tabard. I would also hit the tubes on the helms with some boltgun metal as well.

All that said, I really like the color you achieved with the chest aquila and I would really like to know what colors and steps you used to achieve it, if you don't mind sharing. Actually, I'd really like to know how you achieved all your colors, if you can spare the time. I also really like the "soft armor" detailing (especially since I usually just leave them plain black) along with the silver on the censer and the bronze/gold color you have for all the little metal icons you have. The bases are also very nicely done and really serve to "finish out" the minis.

Very nice, look forward to seeing these guys completed, along with the rest of the squad!

The Company Master looks to be starting off very well, the yellow cape and robelet look nice, and you are very brave to paint (and he's brave to wear) that brilliant white robe.

I am planning on the weapons being green to tie into the Unforgiven more. Eyes will be green good idea :)... I have undercoated the wax seals Caliban Green already :)

I was toying with the ropes too I considered Green, Red, Black or Brown.. With the Commanders cape being YELLOW!!!! :P, I was thinking red but brown could work well.

I am flattered people would even ask me that, its usually me asking for recipes.

ARMOUR

Mephiston Red > Carroburg Crimson > Agrax Earthshade (armour recess) > Evil Sunz Scarlet > Wild Rider Red

WEAPONS

Caliban Green > Biel-Tan Green > Warpstone Glow > Moot Green

CLOTH

Dheneb Stone > Agrax Earthshade > 50/50 Dheneb Stone/White > Touch of White

CHEAT EAGLE

Zandri Dust > Seraphim Sepia > Ushabti Bone > Screaming Skull

CHAPTER SYMBOL & SQUAD MARKINGS

Averland Sunset > Casandora Yellow > Yriel Yellow > Flash Gitz Yellow

METAL

Leadbelcher > Nuln Oil > Ironbreaker > Runefang Steel

GOLD SYMBOLS

Balthasar Gold > Agrax Earthshade > Gehenna's Gold > Auric Armour Gold

(Nuln flows nice into the recesses I feel wrong doing anything else to Soft Armour)

Basically all the same from the GW website.... The colours they have got for combos really work well.

Thanks :) I am glad they have been well received by my Unforgiven Brothers.

I am not the fastest painter  but I have completed my first Vow and I am pretty proud of this fact... And I owe alot to my fellow Unforgiven Brothers, you guys really have gave me a lot of confidence in my painting for that I can't ever thank you enough.

All bases are temporary I am waiting for a new series to be done by Jeff and Dragonforge.

Grerat looking marines - I like your deep red - this is sth really hard to achieve. Have you ever painted blood Angels - I think they would look stunning with your technique.

Thank you Bevulf I am a HUGE fan of your DA :D (Reads as Jealous as hell) :P

I was going to make a new vow for October but I was not 100% I could complete by the end but I might be able to :P

WIP of my new Knight Commander, as much as I like the new DV Master I do LOVE this guy.

Nice to see you completed your vow. Hope you stick with it, the motivation from your fellow battle brothers helps out big time.

I'm also glad to see someone else using the DA Chapter Master model. Looks like your back pack is intact; the one I received was a total mess, I tossed it right into the garbage.

Yeah the motivation is a big help :P

And he is metal :)... I'm not a fan of Finecast after 10 Calgar and Honour Guard sets :)
