Zoatibix
I think the white stands out very nicely. The stronger contrast is better, IMHO. At the moment I'm planning on shamelessly stealing your red colour. I was thinking of white chapter symbols and black robes. Those three colours make for a very strong combination. Grand Master Belial
What about bone or going mid way with the yellow to brighten it up? It looks like it is a bit too dark and blends with the red rather than popping. The white seems too stark to me next to a blended red Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/262634-the-blades-are-drawn/page/3/#findComment-3228880 Share on other sites

On the shoulder pads use the bone color. Looked great on your test helmet it did. Hurts my eyes the white does. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/262634-the-blades-are-drawn/page/3/#findComment-3228894 Share on other sites
elphilo
Between the yellow and the white, I prefer the white. Though the bone will probably look awesome as well :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/262634-the-blades-are-drawn/page/3/#findComment-3229169 Share on other sites
Guest
Would the bone be too much with the Bone chesteagles too? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/262634-the-blades-are-drawn/page/3/#findComment-3229186 Share on other sites
Zoatibix
It would. White! Searing pure white to burn the eyes of traitor and xeno alike! Cleanse! Burn! Grand Master Belial
Try it without the wash step, on a bit of sprue, that darkens the bone on your chest eagles. This should avoid the too much bone line and keep it bright enough without searing the impurities of your soul out. Brother Immolator
Dettol is your friend then, though it will remove the paintjob as well. Great models, can we has a picture that shows the robe on the biker? My guts say it is made of awesome! EDIT: Are the lights deliberately black to simulate them been closed? elmo
Very, very, very nice bikers ;) Loving the red - it has really grown on me and the feathers are great too. +1 for a close up on the robe. The only things that spoil it for me is the join between the two halves of the model over the front tyre and mudguard - (is it too late to run a little liquid green stuff in the crack?) and it looks like your drill slipped when you where drilling out the Sgt's bolter barrel :P Crappy GW model design I know (and I have 9 of these to try to fix up for later vows so I will prob. be in the same situation with the gap) :P What is your plan for the bases? Guest
Very, very, very nice bikers ;) Thank you :P Loving the red - it has really grown on me and the feathers are great too.+1 for a close up on the robe. I think having a Red DA Successor chapter was a risk but it has paid off. The only things that spoil it for me is the join between the two halves of the model over the front tyre and mudguard - (is it too late to run a little liquid green stuff in the crack?) and it looks like your drill slipped when you where drilling out the Sgt's bolter barrel :P For these 3 yeah I learned a few things, inc the Bolters, I did not glue them together till I painted them, in hindsight I should have glued them together first well at least the sides. Crappy GW model design I know (and I have 9 of these to try to fix up for later vows so I will prob. be in the same situation with the gap) ;) My advice just glue the 2 sides together first then GS it thats what I have learnt. What is your plan for the bases? I am planning on buying a stack of Dragonforge bases, Jeff at Dragonforge is planning on updating his Concrete Rubble line which I am waiting for but I am considering the Lost Temple sets too. http://dragonforge.com/Painting%20service/...rete_rubble.htm The ones I want. http://dragonforge.com/Painting%20service/...es%20Series.htm The ones I am considering. Zoatibix
I love the way your bikes have come out. Colours work very well together and the execution is great. But for the love of the God-Emperor please fill gaps before painting next time! :( The gaps really detract from otherwise fantastic models. Frejdruk
I just want to say that your models look amazing! I really like the red colour scheme, and by the looks of this last batch of tactical marines, you chose the yellow chapter symbol? I definitely think that's the right choice, over the white one :) The green bolter casings look surprisingly good, I think it's the darkness of the green that saves an otherwise rather conflicting choice of colours :) Looking forward to seeing whatever you paint next! Captain Semper
The way you shade warm colors is really effective! And despite the red and yellow pallette somehow you've managed to retain the dark and brooding demeanor! This is a great project indeed! Komodo
Crisp and clean, Arkley. Great models. I spotted some decals on your tacs. Where did you get that little arabic numbers from? Both of my tacs have number 2 and 3 on their shoulderpads, so It would be nice for DV squad to have number 1.
