Thanks :)

I can't really offer much help for the load out as I am mainly a modeller rather than a power player so I tend to have fluffy games and who knows what 8th will bring ;)

I have magnetised my Russes so all loadouts are possible.

  • 3 weeks later...

So, after a short holiday I have got back into the painting corner and another 4 vehicles have now been primed for my Armoured Summer :smile.:

Manticore

I decided not to magnetise between a Deathstrike/Manticore as I can only see myself using the Manticore at the moment - maybe the next one

Wyvern/Hydra

http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz66/jonbrooks_photo/Imperial%20Guard/P5130019_zpsdddtrypw.jpg

This one has been magnetised the same way as in the Magnetisation guide

Hydra

This one is a salvaged one and unfortunately the AC barrels are glued in

Light Artillery Tractor

Guardified. Currently waiting for some Anvil Industry seated legs to fit on the bench seats in the rear compartment. Believe it or not it will take 2 figures a side :)

This is how it originally looked.

Should be starting to camouflage them up next week and to get all the primed vehicles done should take about 3 months but it will double the amount of armour I have ;).

5 Leman Russes

4 Chimeras

2 Hydra/Wyverns

1 Manticore

1 Tractor

Still 2 Sentinels and 9 biker Rough Riders to do once these are done...

Looking good!

If I may make a suggestion, though, I think that replacing that skinny (and real-world realistic) gun on the tractor really sticks out like a sore thumb in a 40K milieu. I think that removing it and replacing it with a 40K weapon (if such vehicles get one with the rules) would make a huge difference in making it fit in. Right now it kind of just looks like a historical model kit with a smoke launcher on top.

@Nico: I already replaced the even skinnier barrel it came with with a las barrel from the rear of the Hellhammer turret so it is a little bit bigger. If I was to go for something along the lines of a stubber or even a HB it would look far too big... Unfortunately it is what I am stuck with :(

I am working along the lines of a lightly armoured tractor for towing a piece of artillery and carrying the gun crew rather than a fully fledged APC ;)

@Bjorn: It is from Shapeways

The suspension is similar to an M4 Sherman and other US WW2 tanks

End of Week one of The Armoured Summer

Here is my progress so far...

The Manticore has taken second stage to the Light Artillery Tractor and still has the most work outstanding on it with panel shading (my personal hate) and tracks the main bits to do before detailing, decals and weathering

The Tractor is a little farther along and just needs some detailing prior to decals and weathering plus the passengers need painting ;)

Just to remind you ;), it was based on a model from https://www.shapeways.com/…/28mm-ltv-light-artillery-tracto…
and the seated troopers are from Anvil Industry

Looking good as always Elmo ;)

So seeing as I am possible going to be doing some battle damage on my Baneblade this seems like a good question.

What kind of sponge do you use? The weathering on the edges of your camo is just about the effect I am looking for on mine too.

The sponges are from some clam shell model packaging I got a couple of years ago. I can't remember which models though...

Don't use a kitchen sponge as you will need a denser one and kitchen sponges tend to break down quickly so you will be left with bits on your blade.
