As already hinted at in the Campaign: Assault on Lutum thread my next infantry squad is complete and will be joining the 1st Platoon, 897th Infantry Company "Cadian Might", 711th CCAB.

Squad #112

Along side them will be their transport - Chimera hull no. 190 and a second Chimera I am also working on at the moment as it takes only a little more time to do 2 together as 1 on its own. Both are at about 80% with detailing to be completed along with shading and inking then weathering. Should be another couple of evenings work then I can finish of the Vanquisher turret.

I have just been giving the squad numbering some thought. At the moment I have been simply using the numbers on the decal sheet but I am about to run out so I created 112 by cutting 2 different numbers and rejoining them however I need a plan.

My idea is as follows:

Company Command 001

First platoon

Command  101

1st Squad  111

2nd Squad 112

3rd Squad  113

4th Squad  114

etc

HWT 1    121

HWT 2    122

etc

Special weapons

Squad 1   1:HQ: 1

Squad 1   1:HQ: 2

2nd Platoon (pattern repeats)

Command  201

1st Squad  211

2nd Squad 212

3rd Squad  213

4th Squad  214

etc

HWT 1    221

HWT 2    222

etc

Special weapons

Squad 1   2:HQ: 1

Squad 1   2:HQ: 2

3rd, 4th etc platoons carrying on the pattern

Vehicles slightly different

975th Armoured Battalion "Iron Fists"

Command vehicle 001

1st Squadron

Lead        111

2nd tank   112

3rd tank    113

2nd Squadron follows on the pattern

Am I being a little overzealous?

What do you guys think?

On the plus side it does give loads of room for expansion ;)

The Armoured Fist is complete along with the second Chimera and a Vanquisher turret. I have been quite productive this month. Shame I am away for the first 2 weeks of Feb :(

I have assembled 11 3rd party tripods ready for some HW work plus the Ogre to Bullgryn conversions and a big box of Russes....

What to do next :(

So it seems like 2 comrades want me to turn these into these....

Well I do have all the bits I need to convert 6 Ogres into 3 Bullgryns with grenadier gauntlets and slab shields and 3 with battle mauls and suppression shields so I have not really got an excuse not to :)

Bggr! :censored:

Just cut the helmeted heads off the Kasrkin for Assault on Lutum and found out the beret heads from a 3rd party company I had already bought just for this project are slightly too small scaled to look right :blush.:

Ebay order placed for some Scion heads... Hurrying up and waiting.

  • 3 weeks later...

So the Kasrkin are beginning to look like something now with all the main colours blocked in.

The heads where carefully snipped off then the necks hollowed out using a dremmel tool to fit the Scion beret heads. I have also altered one of the backpacks into a vox as the tiny antenna had snapped off and used one of the Cadian Sgt heads as it has a microphone and headset.

Still to do is the black ink, chocochip, armour cam, highlighting, detailing and basing by the end of the month....

Just to remind you how they should end up.

Next up will be some armour as it has been a little while since I added any Russes to the 711th.

I managed to get my hands on an old style LR hull sprue and added this to some current sides with a little tapping from a large mallet it all fitted together. At the moment I am converting the turret into a Vanquisher a la plastic pipe.

One thing I did not notice is that there is no turret base on the sprue so time to botch one out of plasticard. Also parts of the sponsons are not on this sprue but I am not really to concerned as I won't be using them on this model although I am magnetising the sides just in case I change my mind later.

Here is what I have so far with the turret - needs tidying up but not a bad start ;)

Work is progressing well with the Leman Russes.

The 2 Demolishers are magnetised to also allow them to be used as Punisher or Executioner variants and the mix of the old style hull with new sides has been successful but extra bits had to be added to replace missing parts from the old kit.

They will be primed this weekend then paint will be slapped on with a planned completion date of 18 March.... Hopefully ;)

Base sprayed last night in Chaos Black then Tamiya T61 Nato Green.

Next comes the desert sponging then the detailing... about 2 weeks worth :(

I always paint the tracks separately from the hulls - just the way I prefer it ;)

Executioner as example only - it will be a Demolisher for the AoL campaign

Checking through my collection and still 4 LRBTs and 2 Wyvern/Hydras to do plus loads of troops....
