elmo
Just opened my post box and was surprised that my order from Anvil Industry has turned up already... Amongst some marine legs, cloaks and purity seals and parchments where some boonie hats for some shotgun vets I will be painting in between waiting for filler and paint to dry on other projects... They look great :) olcottr, Guardsman Bob, duz_ and 3 others 6 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269375-wip-thread-711th-ccab-chocochip-rats/page/42/#findComment-4862149 Share on other sites
elmo
The primer is now on the Thunderbolt - Tamiya TS61 Nato green upper and a "no-brand car primer" light grey underside. The plan is to go for the same scheme as my Valkyrie so there is still quite a lot of work to do. The wings are just tacked on for the photo and will be glued on later. Still a little warpage on the wings and I have tried multiple times to straighten it with warm water and even went to the extreme of a hair dryer and then dunking in cold water to fix it but they keep on bending back after a few days. I guess I will have to live with it but it is not too bad. duz_, Bjorn Firewalker, Kierdale and 3 others 6 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269375-wip-thread-711th-ccab-chocochip-rats/page/42/#findComment-4882206 Share on other sites

elmo
Sometimes it is just a matter of timing... I had gone for berets on some of my Kasrkin and Sgts but I am making some shotgun vets soon and these just seemed right ;) walter h 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269375-wip-thread-711th-ccab-chocochip-rats/page/42/#findComment-4885257 Share on other sites

elmo
It has been on hold as the Thunderbolt has moved up the painting queue... walter h
I relly like that Thunderbolt, have you checked at Hobby Town , I found some aircraft transfer sheets with markings such as nose art,and other markings. elmo and Kierdale 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269375-wip-thread-711th-ccab-chocochip-rats/page/42/#findComment-4885284 Share on other sites
elmo
Another step closer... The upper camouflage pattern is now done and some work on the pilot too. Still the underneath to paint in low-vis grey then all the detailing and then the decals and weathering to do... I reckon 2 weeks minimum :( The pilot is based on this artwork On a side note... I seem to have lost one of the pipework manifold covers so I will have to make one from plasticard :( walter h, Kierdale, duz_ and 4 others 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269375-wip-thread-711th-ccab-chocochip-rats/page/42/#findComment-4887277 Share on other sites

elmo
Cheers guys  I managed to shape a piece of plasticard to replace the missing bit and got stuck in with some detailing.  All that is needed now is some tidying up and weathering (2 days work or so) then I have 9 x Psykers waiting for some paint...   Clicking on the photo should bring up a larger version... Bjorn Firewalker
Impressive. I like the red-and-blue stripes. Are they honor markings, identifiers (see "invasion stripes" on Allied aircraft, from D-day), or unit insignia? elmo 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269375-wip-thread-711th-ccab-chocochip-rats/page/42/#findComment-4893067 Share on other sites
elmo
They are unit markings (the same colours as my Valkyrie has on the tail-booms). :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269375-wip-thread-711th-ccab-chocochip-rats/page/42/#findComment-4893071 Share on other sites

WarriorFish
Great work! The colours work nicely on a flyer, the red and blue complement it to give it a bit more splash without detracting from the overall camo :) elmo 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269375-wip-thread-711th-ccab-chocochip-rats/page/42/#findComment-4899791 Share on other sites
elmo
I have had 9 Wyrdvane Psykers lying around on the painting table for a couple of months but have been waiting to clear some other projects before I started them... As the 31 Oct was a bank holiday here I decided to get started on them and they are such nice models to paint I completed them in 1 day less the bases (drying paint ).. They will be a nice addition to the 711th Combined Cadian Arms Brigade. iceman2160, Guardsman Bob, our_baz and 4 others 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269375-wip-thread-711th-ccab-chocochip-rats/page/42/#findComment-4923631 Share on other sites
duz_
I've never been a fan of those models, but your paint scheme looks great on them and makes them less miserable looking! elmo and P3AKHOUR 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269375-wip-thread-711th-ccab-chocochip-rats/page/42/#findComment-4924206 Share on other sites
Brother-Chaplain Kage
I just went through about 12 pages of this and you are a fething machine, Elmo. Brother-Chaplain Kage
Oh, I've seen all of that. elmo
Right.... self motivation time. I have lapsed in the eyes of The God Emperor of Mankind and have not been sufficient in my duty to continue to paint the models still in the queue for the 711th. To help motivate myself I have taken the currently completed models out for a photo shoot - also an excuse to try out a new tripod but I think I need a new lighting system ;) - and here is the result: The 711th Cadian Combined Arms Brigade - on parade - 13.01.18 duz_, robofish7591, walter h and 4 others 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269375-wip-thread-711th-ccab-chocochip-rats/page/42/#findComment-4982166 Share on other sites
