Kierdale
It's been a year since I last worked on it, but my son Ryu insists I get the Martlet finished, so I've been painting/spraying today. :tu: Hopefully something to show soon. Oh and go post your tanks in the Hall of Honour's Showcase :tu: elmo and WarriorFish 2 Back to top

Bjorn Firewalker
The memorial looks great. Does it count as an objective in your games?
Kierdale
I've never yet used the monument but would probably use it as a piece of terrain (an office would look good stood up there commanding the troops....as well as being sniperbait :D). Perhaps the statue but could be designated an objective...that's a good idea, Bjorn. :tu:
WarriorFish
I've used my Pride of the Guard statue as an objective a few times, or sometimes just some terrain decoration. Looks really nice and adds something different to the table :D
Pearson73
Nice idea, really looks the part as an Imperial fighter. Kierdale 1 Back to top
Kierdale
Upper surfaces brown and green are done (inspired by WWII Spitfire colour schemes...and using the same colours as my tanks): And the underside is Thunderhawk Blue drybrushbrushed with Baharoth Blue. Not particularly visible here! :D Next up is decals, then weathering (mainly sponging), then metallics, then weathering the metallics. Oh and do all of the cockpit interior/pilot. our_baz, Reyner, WarriorFish and 1 other 4 Back to top
Bjorn Firewalker
I like the camouflage pattern on the fighter. Kierdale 1 Back to top
Kierdale
Thanks! Do you think I should paint the foremost plate, around the air intake rim, a colour like yellow (bf109-style)? Something to add some colour. Red?
Bjorn Firewalker
I think yellow matches that camouflage color better. Green and red only look good together for fruits, flowers, and Christmas decorations, in my opinion.
WarriorFish
Really like the colour, I also think a spot of yellow on the nose would look nice :)
Kierdale
Okay, yellow it is then. Yellow shows up weathering nicer as well so that's good :tu: I'll do that plus I need to paint the panel just in front of the cockpit black to stop glare, then decals, then weathering. walter h, WarriorFish and elmo 3 Back to top
Kierdale
22 decals done (and that's only the top of the plane), none yet matted (that's next). WARNING - HIGH OUTPUT LASER Ooooh yeah Warnings by the engines and a rear hatch/cap More warnings here and there. A small red text decal doesn't show up much in the brown by the canopy. Unfortunately a lot of my yellow and these red ones are just too thin. I'll be more selective buying decals next time. Ubiquitous pin-up :tu: I chose the number 4 for this bird as the Martlet was the symbol of the 4th son. A small warning down by the autocannon (likely reads "Try not to break this off when landing."), and on the nose a lightning bolt (in case anyone needs reminding what the Martlet counts as). I'm going to do a few decals on the underside - not many as who'll see them? - then matt them all down, then get on to weathering. elmo
It always impresses me how much better a few well placed decals make a model look... Great work Kier
our_baz
The yellow nose really pops! Love it.
The Pounder
Really great stuff! I agree with elmo, the decals really add a little extra!

Kierdale
Basic weathering is done. Next up is metallics then some more weathering. The front piece of the cockpit broke when I cut it off the sprue if I remember correctly. Not much I could do about it but the crack isn't shockingly eye catching. The underside will get a lot of dirt/sand weathering powders before the end. I deliberately left off kill markings so I can put them on as they're earned :tu: elmo and WarriorFish 2 Back to top

Kierdale
The Martlet is complete! This morning I realised the port/starboard red/green lights need redoing, but other than those, she's good to go. Just need FW's rules now :) Cap'm Heckus, Dr_Ruminahui, BassWave and 4 others 7 Back to top

WarriorFish
The conversion is great, with the fine paint job it masquerades perfectly so I wouldn't be surprised if some didn't see the source model until they got quite close! :tu: Kierdale 1 Back to top
Kierdale
...and then it's too late for them! :D Thanks for the comments. It was fun to make, convert and paint. And reminded me I have an LED-filled Valk/Vend' to finish sometime. But I'm also keen to get 20 more penitent beastmen homo sapiens variatus conscripts off their sprues and painted! I don't have enough lasguns for all of them, but such concerns never bothered the Red Army! duz_ and elmo 2 Back to top
Tallarn Commander
An outstanding conversion and paint job! How did you achieve your bare metal/scratched paint effects? Did you use a sponge, brush, or both?
