Can someone please call off Brother Dean! I am working as fast as I can ;)

(Private joke)

Today I have been doing mostly doors....

As the different versions I am building have the weapon sponsons in different locations it seemed only right to have mine .... wait for it..... MAGNETISED!

So now I can swap between sponson front for flamers....

or sponson rear for hurricane bolters

I love it when a plan comes together  bah-ha-ha-ha

I have also re-jiggled the magnets on the redeemer flamer and now I don't have droopy barrel syndrome

The TL heavy flamers have added piping (guitar wire)

and I have started work on the dozer blade extension using sprue off cuts but this will need a lot more work.

I think I am still on track to spray about 70% on the weekend and the remainder will need some fine tuning before getting sprayed the weekend after. I am quietly confident to have it all complete by the end of the 4th week.

Then I have a Rhino to do (left over Vindi bits).

Elmo, love love LOVE the fact you are magnetizing the doors.

But by the holiness of the emperor's undies man- make it a habit of putting the sponsons in the front!  The only reason putting them in the back got started was because one of the GW staff didn't look at the box art when assembling the behemoth, and it's stuck with us ever since.  Join the crusade to correct land raider turrets!  (Seriously though, if you disembarked from in front of a lascannon...that's not gonna end well for you if it has to fire.  By contrast, disembarking from behind a lascannon provides some cover in a real world firefight situation).

Also, hurricane bolters have about as piddly range as the redeemer flamers....why do yourself a disservice and deny yourself much needed range?

Real life disembarking infront of a weapons sponson would definitely have your life insurance company reviewing your policy but this is a case of maybe needing to be that extra 2" closer to the enemy when assaulting. The crusader is an assault vehicle after all ;)

Anyway you may have noticed that I have a magnet addiction.

I plan to have a clean up night tonight and get as much as I can ready for spraying on Friday/Saturday and I need to get the vindicator vents converted to fit on the roof of the raider, with magnets of course ;)

It was true in the previous edition, but now you can disembark 6" from the front door, it is unlikely that you cannot place all your models in range... :P

I do agree with this!

In the offical box art on release, and in all the other previous versions of the LR (including al the epic scale versions), the doors were always behind the sponson.

That said, I quite like the look of the sponsons at the back, even if they don't make practical sense - they look sleeker to me that way, and they do allow room for freehand/art on the front of the hull that way too. Besides, since when has anything in 40k made sense?! tongue.png

Just trying to keep you focused.... I imagine you prefer a friendly PM to a rather more sinister kind of reminder....

PS. You're doing it right...

Here we go with the next update - not lots to see as most of tonight was spent frantically sanding...

I have been playing with the dozer blade extensions and all I have to do now is to cover the white plasticard with green stuff and sand it down.

I have extended the pistons as they will be mounted lower down than normal they will have to be a bit longer to get the clearance

I gave some thought about the best way to fit the vents from the vindicator to the Landraider without having to glue then greenstuff them in place and came up with this, but it needs some tidying up next week.

And finally I got rid of some of those pesky eagles and replaced them with the winged sword on both sides.

I am now taking a break over the weekend from building but will be undercoating on Fri/Sat weather permitting.

CnC welcome as always msn-wink.gif

Thank the Emperor for Army painter spray cans.....

The TL heavy flamers need the magnets repositioning slightly higher but apart from that I am fairly happy with the build. The unevenness on the front extra armour sections will be hidden later under a bit of weathering effect.

Only the dozer blade to do then the build will be complete and I can get down to some detail painting.

More updates next week.

Oh shush typher, the tank can't even transport any terminators! There's no reason for it to be death wing bone/white colored! Elmo, the tank is looking mighty fine. I anticipate next update, but take your time! Haha

There will be some bone on it in the recesses of the extra armour panels. It will be an exact opposite of the crusader I built where it was bone with green bits

http://th07.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2012/329/d/3/deathwing_landraider_crusader_by_elmo9141-d5m4mbb.jpg

And the guns WILL be red. Bah-hahahaha yes.gif

But the Ares is a part of the Armoury rather than the Deathwing - hence the green.

Edit: I was never 100% happy with the way the mud turned out so it will be a good idea to revisit the weathering on this one when I get to that stage with the Ares.
