Cmdr Shepard
Greetings fellow Legionaries, How do you model your Paragon Blades? I know they can have any form you want but I'd like to find a very cool/badass looking one Currently I'm using FW MK4 Space Marine commander as Praetor with Paragon Blade but I'd like to make a jump pack equiped Praetor and I'm looking for another Paragon Blade. One of the Axes from the Sanguinary Guard kit (the one wielded with a single hand) looks interesting. Reading through the Paragon Blade entry I was intriguided by the " rarely unique chain weapons wrought from the teeth of terrifying xeno beasts". How can we model one of those weapons? I thought about using the chainswords from the Raptors kit but they would look like exotic chainsword rather then immensely powerful relic weapons. Any suggestion, for any possible Paragon Blade conversion (not only the ones wrought from xeno beasts ) is very appreciated. Thank You for your help. spu00sed
I just use one of the sang guard swords. If you were crazy you could use plasticard and gaunt foreclaws to make a chainsword paragon blade. Though you would have to be mad. *wanders off o check pile of unused gaunts* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269994-how-do-you-model-your-paragon-blades/#findComment-3289282 Share on other sites
Eorek
just use the most pimped out and hard to get weapon you can find... in my case: the Redscorpion honour guard axe(http://www.forgeworl...NOUR-GUARD.html) http://i.imgur.com/nO19b.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269994-how-do-you-model-your-paragon-blades/#findComment-3289477 Share on other sites
Arachnid99
Wow fantastic model, he looks like a real World Eater, unhinged and devastating. Though you would have to be mad. *wanders off o check pile of unused gaunts* Well that would be quite "insane" to do ;) but the result could be really amazing. I don't have nids bitz but I'm considering the idea to buy some kit just for the sake of kitbashing ;) Perhaps when I'll build a Praetor in TDA he will have a paragon blade wrought from a xeno beast. just use the most pimped out and hard to get weapon you can find... in my case: the Redscorpion honour guard axe(http://www.forgeworl...NOUR-GUARD.html) http://i.imgur.com/nO19b.jpg We had the same idea about using skull crushers helmets for WE! I used them for Rampagers and the sergeant of 20 men "true grid" tac squad. Obviously I avoided the helmets with Khorne icon. I have been inspired by a pic of a pre Heresy Khârn wearing a very similar helmet and I thought to recreate the look for the "legion elit". Back on the Paragon Blade: The Red Scorpion Honour Guard Axe is very nice. I plan to put Loth kit in my next FW order. I also need a Legion Librarian for another of my projects and I think he is the best choice, not to mention the cool weapons you get, like the Axe in your pic. If I'll have to complete my jump pack Praetor before I place my next FW order I should use some of the bitz I have. As I said sanguinary guard kit is nice for our kitbashings ;) Just one more question: I see you used MK8 shoulder pads for your WE. I wanted to do the same because I like their look but obviously MK8 is a post heresy design. Did you find "fluff" reasons to include it in your HH army? Personally I think we could consider it a prototype of some kind or an ceremonial armour lately included in the MK8 design. Adra'Melek
I used a bone sword. Guy's not painted yet but it looks like a large Xeon based weapon so good for me Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269994-how-do-you-model-your-paragon-blades/#findComment-3289782 Share on other sites

Cutting the nid arm, and putting the blade on an SM CCW wielding arm shouldn't be difficult. Then the addition of some cable could complete the "design". For some reasons it looks a very Death Guard-styled Paragon Blade ... after all aren't they specialized in xenos purging? ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269994-how-do-you-model-your-paragon-blades/#findComment-3289793 Share on other sites
Eorek
Well... the dude has an Errant chest, a helm of unknown Mk, a 41st millenium chaos backpack and a pair of berserker legs aswell... I figured that artificer armour sorta meant it's not one of the mass produced MKs but rather something unique... and I love those double layered shoulder pads : > And also: I wanted my praetor to stand out from the rest, unlike some legions world eaters just can't pimp out their praetors with gold and ornament stuff... I wanted a Praetor with a "no bull " attitude, hence him not having too much ornament stuff but rather having a chipped blade chained to his wrist, a custom MK representing his artificer armour, a fur cape(which you can't see from this angle) blowing behind him while he charges with several trophies on. The khorne berserker legs were perfect for him in my opinion, giving him a ... unhinged and devastating ...look without adding too much fancy stuff to him but still letting him stand out from the crowd. I've also repainted him once since then giving him some of the world eaters blood markings like the bloody palm print on the forehead... Could upload some better pictures of him if you want em. They seems perfect for a melee oriented warrior or a warrior who requires additional protection. The same applies to the collar protection offered by that particular mark. As I said it can a prototype version created by a very qualified artificer. I should give those pads to the Praetor I'm assembling. He will be modelled with thunder hammer and Paragon Blade so I suppose his armour demands additional protection since he will be involved in furious close quarters fights ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/269994-how-do-you-model-your-paragon-blades/#findComment-3289814 Share on other sites
DuskRaider
Technically, the Chaos Power Cells are actually Crusade Era Prototype Power Cells... there's a depiction of a Death Guard Marine in Betrayal who's equipped with one. I personally used a Puppets War Daemon Sword for my Death Guard Cataphract Terminator. Fluffwise, he's an old Dusk Raider Veteran and former First Captain, the sword "Foesbane", was wielded by a great Albian warrior and personally presented to him by The Emperor.
