pingo
Recently I started using a new style of painting heat staining on barrels. The method I use is really easy, consisting of only three steps. Here are some examples: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ON5bCOeKMKM/UQa4ow-5SaI/AAAAAAAAAzs/1bnb-017Cyk/s1600/2013-01-07+21.29.29.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XEugXaHU2o4/UQa4prigrGI/AAAAAAAAA0I/wNb4GKW2YYc/s1600/4.jpg You can find the tutorial on my blog by following this link. Hope this is useful! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270295-really-easy-heat-stained-barrels/ Share on other sites

zxyogi
Been doing that to my Marines weapons for a while now!! Does bring out the model more!! I do mine by drybrushing regal blue, then Liche purple 2 thirds up the blue then Brazen brass on the very end of the barrels. Copied the effect off of my motorbike exhaust system!! Melekharn
I used to do something similar, though I went for a more burnt effect over the heat-stained metal. I used fleshwash or brown ink (Now Devlan mud.. or whatever the newer paint equivalent is) and then carefully drybrush black on the very tip of the weapon/exhaust as I find it gives a look more like carbon build-up, where as for energy based weapons, like the melta, plasma or lascannon, the original posters tutorial is bang on. DistroyA
This is a fantastic method. I've tried it out on my dreadnought's multi melta, and it's come out looking superb. Thank you so much for this tut. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270295-really-easy-heat-stained-barrels/#findComment-3309506 Share on other sites
