Rider-75
Here's the Rhino fully finished! I call it the Macragge pattern mk1e. I tried a few new things with this. Most noticeably the build up of mud effect and the use of BIG decals. As always, feedback appreciated ;) http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l8/rider_in_black/dark%20materials%20miniatures/Horus%20Heresy%20Ultramarines/63D7F159-9ADE-4809-AFB0-15B352180E4B-4122-00000609585A0294_zpsd57d7e59.jpg http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l8/rider_in_black/dark%20materials%20miniatures/Horus%20Heresy%20Ultramarines/624182CA-36FB-49FF-B780-DD2A2CDDB2AB-4122-000006095B248375_zps57055d02.jpg http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l8/rider_in_black/dark%20materials%20miniatures/Horus%20Heresy%20Ultramarines/763C9191-F533-4A37-A2A4-423AD751DEE0-4122-0000060964841A64_zps755f986d.jpg http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l8/rider_in_black/dark%20materials%20miniatures/Horus%20Heresy%20Ultramarines/0044F656-30B7-4638-8AB3-2893B31677FB-4122-000006096542D34A_zps0f1376f2.jpg http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l8/rider_in_black/dark%20materials%20miniatures/Horus%20Heresy%20Ultramarines/3E57DD4F-807D-4D14-94D6-7D2CF734CFB1-4122-00000609694231F3_zps000d4425.jpg
Monstra Sumus
Caught these on my Facebook feed and I'm impressed. I love the front view of the Rhino and the dusting effect.
Rider-75
Thanks Brother Tyrax - it's good to know the pics reach people in other areas of cyberspace !
Urauloth
Your mud and dust look terrific. Is that texture paint?
Rider-75
Nope. It's a mix of fine sand, flock, PVA and dark brown acrylic
Firepower
I always despised the original Rhinos. The nostalgia for them escapes me.But that's neither here nor there. The painting is excellent. The one thing that stands out as odd to me is the caked on mud. The way it wraps fully around the edges and up the vertical ends in a uniform width seems...well, odd.I'm not sure I'm expressing that well. nurglespuss
I really like this, is that a fw kit or your own effort? the dark blue is unusual (on a pre heresy) but it still looks fab! I'm one of those that find the New rhino characterless and live the old one :)
Rider-75
You're right Firepower, it is off a bit - although I did try to make it a but uneven so it's definitely not uniform..... It's my first attempt at heavy road muck, and I know it's too even. But I'm okay with it as my first attempt :) Nurglepuss: it's a standard GW rhino with some of the old rhino parts grafted (butchered?) into place. Arachnid99
You're right Firepower, it is off a bit - although I did try to make it a but uneven so it's definitely not uniform..... It's my first attempt at heavy road muck, and I know it's too even. But I'm okay with it as my first attempt I'd personally have it higher at the the back than the front and separately a build up in the white depressed areas where the mud has build up on the "ledges" if you get what I mean.
