Wow you've got alot of work ahead of you. That terrain at the tournament you went to looks like it'd be pretty fun to play on.

 

Question for you, how do you do your normal marines? Like what basecoat, washes etc do you use? I'm going to be doing a couple PM squads down the road in a month or two and I like the way you do yours....

It wasn ´t a tournie. That is gamesworkshop Headquarters in Nottingham ;). And the scenery there is amazing. Just building together the daemons now and plenty of greenstuff work to go on the princes as well as somehow building lashes for them. 

 

I like to keep my painting fairly simple. So for Marines it´s basically spray black, basecoat in Castellan Green, paint details in Steel Legion

Drab, Pink Horror, Leadbelcher then coated in Warplock Bronze, Screaming Skull and Blood red at bits and pieces.

Then I ink the entire model in Agrax Earthshade, followed by Reikland Fleshshade. Ink the pink parts in Druchii Violet.

Then drybrush green areas in Death World Forest and a very light drybrush of Straken Green.

Next up I will probably continue on my Daemons. I´m not sure if I should post the non nurgle models in here, so I´ll probably open another thread for them. However, I still have a large amount of CSM models waiting to be painted and will also continue working on those.

My progress for today: Greenstuffed a load of bases and revisited some of the csms eyes to get a better red lense look.

Ok I thought I would knock out a huge update today. Just took pictures of all my nurgle models in a photo booth (Hope the quality is ok-ish). The nightlord scheme will be swapped to nurgle once I get around to it. I hope you enjoyed the pics :). Now to fix the forgeworld raptors... I tripped on the stairs on my way back up after taking the pics and three fell off the tray and broke :P.

Ok so I couldn´t resist entering the call to chaos this time around. Sadly all I´ve vowed for my nurgle csm project is a 5 man squad of plaguemarines. The rest of the vow consisting of my daemonproject (a link to it can be found in my signature). All in all a healthy 6 units to complete by january aswell as 9 daemonettes which I couldn´t vow due to their minimum squad size.

Ok after seeing the fire raptor from forgeworld and the experimental rules I just had to test a csm air domination list.

 

I played 1850 pts against a flying circus.

 

My list was CSM Primary, Necron Allies:

Warp Smith 110

 

Necron Lord Warscythe, 2+ armour

 

(Sorry not sure on necron names, only know them in german)

1 dude with the night fight item

1 dude with 4 shots S:5 haywire

 

10 cultists flamers

10 cultists

5 warriors in scythe

5 immortals

 

2*Heldrake baleflamer

 

3*fire raptor, 2* reaper battery, ceramite, possession

 

Aegis with reroll reserves 

 

His list was:

Portalglyph, Grimoire

Fateweaver

Nurgle DP Ml3

2*10 plague bearers

1*10 horrors

3*tzeentch dp Ml 3

 

We played diagonal set up. 1 Objective per deployment zone. Which I felt was kinda bad for me. I hid everything behind the aegis (10 cultists, 5 immortals, necron lord and the nightfight dude)

 

It was his turn first.

 

The 2+ cover save behind the aegis helped me tank most of his shooting in the first two turns

 

All my reserves came on the field turn 2, downed a dp and took a wound off another (he had invisibility and grimoire which was a pain)

 

I managed to kill his fmc fairly quickly. By turn 4 he had lost all of them. He killed off both of my drakes with puppet master. The fire raptors dished out alot of help and i was forced to go into hover mode in turn 3. Screening them off with the necron warriors and the other cultists with the warpsmith. On the other side of my reserve side my last 2 cultists were charged by 10 horrors because the cover saves were annoying him and he wanted to get close to the objective. Killed 2 horrors with overwatching pistols and another 2 with close combat attacks. He then only wounded me twice, which I both saved and the cultists fought to the last man until the end of turn 4 when they finally died after killing 7 horrors. Fateweaver tried to get stuck in close combat with the immortals, so I couldn´t shoot him to death. He killed my necron lord in a challenge (yes that was a mistake on my end) and my crons were overrun. The other cultist unit wiped out 10 Plague bearers with the help of the warp smith. 

 

And those were the most important moments in the game. I would have taken pictures... but proxing 3 fire raptors, 1 drake and all the necrons made me think twice :P.

 

All in all I like the feel of the list, but will try to get some mindshackle on the cron lord, will take daemonic possession off of the fire raptors and use the remaining points to bolster up the immortals or something like that I think.

 

Next game will probably be against a necron with 2*elite unit in scythe, 3 warriors in scythe, 1 hvy support scythe and some other bits and bobs (not 100% sure what).

 

Will have to see when I manage to play, but I will try and give a report on how I did.

Aaaaan completed. Just in time aswell. Today was my last chance of finishing and so I have. Amazing time doing the CoC, has motivated me to finish alot more models (albeit only 5 csm ones, but alot of daemons). Big thanks to Cpt Semper and everyone else who participated. :)
