BloodForTheBloodGod88
Hey guys. I recently started putting together a Grey Knights army. I'm considering the route of Purifiers. After checking forums, it looks like Crowe is pretty much a sacrifice, but can be utilized to tie up key enemy units for a turn or so.. One of the main issues I feel like will be mobility. Maybe 1 or 2 rhinos for cover? Still toying with ideas at this point. My main concern that I am looking for feedback on (other than my army list) is how to effectively handle Necrons. A buddy and I played a match the other day and after the bottum of turn 5 (rolled a 3 lol), he and I were tied in victory points. He generally is going 3-4 10 man squads of Warriors, 5+ Scarabs, 5 Praetorians, Anni Barge and 5 Lychguard with either Imotekh or Trazyn. Any and all comments are welcomed:HQ -Castellan CroweTroops 2x 5man Purifier: -4x Psycannon -Psybolts 2x 5man Purifier: -4x Psycannon -Psybolts (maybe a rhino for cover support?) Fast Attack 5man Interceptor: -IncineratorElites 5man Paladin: -2x Psycannon -Psybolts -Halberds/Hammers Heavy Support NDK (w optional upgrades) -HPsyC/HIncin -NGSword -Personal XportSo yeah I know all of that exceeds 1250 but I figured it would give me some options @1250 down the road. Also, I have been told in other forums that Purgations are a waste? To me, it seems like sitting back and spamming S8AP4 Heavy 4 Rending shots (w psybolts of course) should yeild some positive results, but I have yet to try it in a game. Im still in the process of buying all the minis so any and all comments/critiques welcomes. Thanks guys. IndigoJack
Psybolt ammo is less efficient on purifiers than it is on strikes because strikes have more storm bolters. However, if you are buying them, buy them on a full 10 man squad, than combat squad into two 5 man squads. This gives you flexibility, since there are times you might want 10 man over 5 man. IndigoJack
Assuming you took max special weapons, purifiers have 6 storm bolters (and 4 psycannons/incinerators) and strikes have 8 storm bolters (and 2 psycannons/incinerators) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273865-gk-vs-necron-tactics/#findComment-3346351 Share on other sites
BloodForTheBloodGod88
interceptors w incinerators or purgations w psycannons? i have a match against necrons tomorrow, dont know which to field yet. thinking about posting up the purgs behind terrain and focus firing his necrons bc if i shunt the interceptors and dont kill his whole squad, ReanProtocol w probably faceroll the interceptors. opinions? Reclusiarch Darius
HQ -Castellan Crowe Troops 2x 5man Purifier: -4x Psycannon -Psybolts 2x 5man Purifier: -4x Psycannon -Psybolts (maybe a rhino for cover support?) Fast Attack 5man Interceptor: -Incinerator Elites 5man Paladin: -2x Psycannon -Psybolts -Halberds/Hammers Heavy Support NDK (w optional upgrades) -HPsyC/HIncin -NGSword -Personal Xport Your list is way too low on the model count. Necrons will simply outshoot you and kill too many dudes each Shooting phase. Crowe is a terrible choice, Grandmaster is always better. 1,250 is a really bad game size to play at. I'd encourage your friends to expand up to 1,500 at least. It'll make the matchups more even, and won't punish you army as heavily. This is probably the best you can do at 1,250; HQ: Coteaz (100 points) Elites: Flame Knight w/halberd, Purifier w/hammer, 4 x Purifiers w/halberds, 4 x Purifiers w/psycannons (295 points) Troops: 3 x Servitor w/plasma cannon, 9 x Acolytes w/storm bolters (123 points) Justicar w/halberd, 2 x Terminators w/hammer+psycannon, 3 x Terminators w/hammers, 4 x Terminators w/halberds (450 points) Heavy Support: DK w/greatsword, teleporter (230 points) Aegis line (50 points) Total: 1,248 points Terminators are a real hassle for Necrons, they shoot hard and still eat most Necron things in melee. AP2 is present with Necrons but not in great abundance, whatever they do bring you should pounce on with the DK quickly (Doomsday Ark/LanceTeks). Coteaz+friends do horrible things to Necron infantry, and will stick around with the Aegis line. Purifiers can advance and claim a mid-field fire support position to support your push with the DK and Terminators.
