Passionfruit -  Honestly, looking at the model, the metal looks fine to me. I honestly think its more the shine from the light making it seem a bit brighter than usual.

 

I'm already working on my second marine and retrying the freehand on the first. Cheers guys

The metal looks fine to me, even if some areas are brighter than others, it's a great contrast to the dark red.

Nice to see an update here Noctus. Are you planning on adding any of the new FW Word Bearers minis when they are released? The Ashen Circle have tempted me to paint something other than Dark Angels for the first time since I started this hobby.

I find the Ashen Circle to be very silly models and I honestly don't like them in the slightest.

 

Erebus isn't bad but if I'm completely honest, im not happy with any of the other upcoming Word Bearer models. They're just kind of bleh.

I respect your opinion even though we disagree. I don't like their helmets but I like the esoteric symbols on their armor. I'm on the fence about Erebus, I like Kor Phaeron and I'm reserving judgement on the rest until FW releases some official pictures. Your work is top notch and captures the essence of the WB very well. I like your red armor as well.

The heads look funky. The torsos are bloated looking. The legs look clunky and have fairly awkward poses. Only redeemable factor to me is those sweet as hell chain tomahawks. Like you said though, all just  a matter of opinion.

Really nice work on the Word Bearer noctus! The Noise Champion's pose looks really good as well. The combination of Apostle and Raptors bits works perfectly.

So first,I did a rework on the freehanding of the first marine. Still not quite how I wanted it to look but its certainly a step up if you ask me.

I love the shade of red brother and the tin brass silver effect is amazing

Noctus, what're you using to create that color for your bolters? It's quite unique, I've never seen that before and tempted to try it....

The dark Brass color? Its simple actually. GW has one of the new paints called Brass Scorpion. Just apply it over a white base and then add a wash of Nuln oil. Easy Peasy.

Now... Remember when I said I had another marine done? I lied. I have two done.

 

In a fit of inspiration after speaking to Brother  Vazzy, I determined myself to paint myself my first champion, and paint him I did.

 

I'll add some fluff tomorrow when I wake up, but for now its nearly 5:30 in the morning and I'm heading off to bed. Cheers, boys.

Thery're looking pretty good, noctus. I find that you've gone slightly over the top with the wash on the Champion, but that's just a minor quibble :)

 

I'll keep an eye out for your next update.

in my defense, I think it might be because there are far more creases and crevices in the Champion's plate than in the other, but ya, I can see what you mean. Ill have to do some editing. Much appreciated though.

Have you considered some variation of headlessness for the lighting claws guy, perhaps only the bottom jaw and lower?
