Love the paitning mate! Very gritty - almost John Blanchesque.

Given that I love John Blanch's work so dearly. I will take that as the highest compliment, sir.

Interestiing "The Thing" aesthetic you have going on with your horrors, never seen that before.

I do love those old minis, I wish they'd stuck to that style for the plastics.

It is rather sad indeed. When it comes to the old metal daemons, the Horrors are perhaps my favorite. Something about them just truly screams to me of horror and the macabre in a very surreal form. I'm so lucky that I manged to get a squad of them.

Oh wow, those Horrors are truly...horrifying. But in an awesome, grimdark way.

I am to please. ;)

Hey, guys and gals. Not really much of an update but hey, why not? So yesterday I got the chance to play some 40k for once. I hooked up with my Imperial Guard friend and together we played two games. The first was a 750 point Zone Mortalis game between his Dark Angels and my Chaos Daemons. We used the new Space Hulk board pieces I bought for myself. It was  cut throat simple seek and destroy mission and eventually ended in a complete tie. His Terminator squad really took the spotlight in this one as they single handed took care of my Blood Crushers and a nearly a full squad of bloodletters. Eventually it ended in a tie of victory points but itw as pretty fun. The camera work is a little fuzzy, so sorry about that.

Next up we did a 3000 point game between his Imperial Guard and my Daemons with Black Legion allies and a single Imperial Knight detachment. Sadly most of the pictures were too blurry so I had to trash a lot of them but I did manage to atleast keep a few that were in acceptable condition. Essentially it came down to him with two squadrons of three Leman Russ battle tanks, a squadrons of three Plasmacutioners, a Command tank, an a Commissar Tank with beast hunter shells, a squad of Tempestus Scions and then a second squad with a commissar in a Valkyrie. To top it all off he took a Shadow Sword for his Lords of War. As for me, I had 1 Knight Errant, 3 Soul Grinders, a Bloodthirster, SKarbrand, 5 Bloodcrushers, 20 bloodletters, 20 plaguebearers, with a Warp Smith with the Eye of Night, a Maulerfiend, a 5 man melta Raptor squad, and a 5 man melta Chosen Squad.

Not going to lie, about half of my army was virtually useless in the long run, but I had a hell of a fun time with this fun game. The Knight Errant pulled his own weight, nearly wrecking three Leman Russ tanks on his own. But for the most part he served as a perfect attack soaker, shrugging off most shots with his Ion shield and then able to soak up 5 Hull Points before he eventually made it to point black range with the Shadow Sword that was backed up against a tower, fired point blank range at the hull taking off almost half of the hull points and then rammed his Chainsword into the tank, setting off the tank to go critical into a titanic eruption which actually killed two of his own Leman Russ tanks and nearly all of his first Scion squad in the aftermath. Of course going terminal killed my Knight aswell who also went critical and took another Leman Russ with him. Another few of my star players was the Warpsmith who used the Eye of Night to perfect effect and though it may have been only one shot, he killed two Leman Russ on the first turn on his own which allowed the Night to stomp on through to get to the Shadow Sword. Another star player for me was the Raptor Squad who managed to kill the Command Tank and survive a Volcano cannon with one member left alive. On the other side, my friend's star player was his Commissar tank. That bad boy killed not one but TWO Bloodthirsters all on his own (one was Skarbrand), a Soul Grinder, and wiped the last of my Bloodcrusher squad. He did so exceptionally well that I even offered to take the turret of the tank and hook it up with some purity seals and an honorific insiginia on the side with the title 'Bane of Daemons'. In the end, my friend won due to sheer mass of victory points but I'll be honest, it was one hell of a funny game and I had loads of fun.

And yes, as you can see, I have been working on painting my Knight. He's about half way done, so you can enjoy the final product soon enough. ;)

Enjoy.

Well thanks, man. Really glad SOMEBODY liked it. :tongue.:

Yeah, its actually kinda funny how the one picture I take that comes out in good quality was the one featuring exclusively the enemy... My phone has betrayed me.

Love it!

I always appreciate these little mini-battle reports in a WiP thread. For me its super cool to see the models we watched "grow up" and go on to battle!

The knight is looking great! I love the blue and black color scheme for him. Also sounds like he's doing quite well for himself. Ramboing his way through an armored column only to explode everything within blowin' up distance sounds like a fitting and (anti)heroic end for a great model.

isnt that what this is? i havent even begun to think up the details just occurred to me that would be a nice touch :tongue.:

Not so much.

While I can certainly appreciate the offer, I might sadly have to decline. I don't think our groups mesh very well and the Chapter of the Ruined King is currently undergoing its own reconstruction in terms of lore and where I am heading with them.

well considering the reconstruction, i understand. what are you rethinking, out of curiosity?
