TITH, I realized that I've gotta pause my ETL painting so I can finish up the models I'm going to be using at table this weekend.

EDIT:

Also TITH, I wasted 3 hours in traffic after work in a near-futile attempt to find enough Kataphrons to round out my list for this weekend. Sheesh! Last week, couldn't find a shop in town that didn't have at least one dust covered box of 'em; this week, one box between four shops! Yeah, I know: shoulda called ahead and saved some driving, but a couple of these shops I haven't visited enough to save their numbers yet, and one I normally avoid.
(Note to self: I think I might be facing off against someone else's Kataphrons Saturday...)

Today in the Hobby I... finally finished reclaiming my studio and painting area from the influences of disorganization and clutter. I took a few weeks to start some work on a few summer hobby projects and that just pushed the space to a completely unacceptable state. Before I can even consider my next step, this had to change.

Before: A year of college always leaves my work space a dysfunctional mess; the workload leaves little time to clean up the clutter created by earlier projects, so things get stored in ever more creative ways. When it gets like this if you're not careful you can actual trip and accidentally find a portal to Narnia, I swear. Not exactly conducive to the creative process.

After: Several days of sorting and reorganization rewards me with a space that I can actually be productive in; while still quite full and a little manic the space now has many more useful working surfaces, a better flow with more space, and considerably more storage thanks to new shelves that can't be seen in the photo. It's no hobbit hole but it's cozy and now I can get down to actually getting productive. I'm particularly happy with the new and improved painting area I've managed to squeeze under the stairs...

All outside distractions be gone; how to make a nearly useless space actually useful, cram a painting area into it! Lots of cool white light from multiple directions, several surfaces with the main painting area raised up to eye level, and tons of storage for the ever-growing supply of paints, brushes, additives, and other tools-of-the-trade that I want on hand while I'm painting. It's an old tank of an office desk that I saved from the garbage years ago that I use for the base; it's a little rough around the edges and has a horrible wood veneer but it's just so heavy and solid, they just don't make them like this any more.

Next up, now to actually do something with all of this new found space and organization, and ultimately drive it back down the path towards mess and dysfunction. How the wheels forever turn and turn and turn. Oh well, I can't help but play my part. *Subtle wanders off to find some sleep before starting something new*

I worked on my first squad (painting wise)! It's 19 battle sisters and I'm over 10 hours of work in. Not halfway done, but it will be glorious when it is complete.

I'm going to borrow from a Blood Angels story I wrote . . .

SUFFER NOT THE HERETIC THE GROUND ON WHICH HE STANDS!

TITHI Did the last of the large metal areas on my spartan hull, re tidied the blue and started the sponsons.

Tomorrow is being dedicated to heat bending the bottom las cannons into line with the upper ones and painting them up, then it's onto the last 16 man tactical squad and a fire raptor:wink:

TITH I sculpted something with green stuff.  Or rather attempted to.... rather badly.... It looks crap...

Oh well, I supposes how we learn to do better, by failing abysmally the first few hundred times... :tongue.:

That's how I get anywhere with everything hobby related, if I'm honest!

Everything I do takes at least three attempts, up to and including basecoating stuff. :laugh.:

Today in the hobby, I received this captain (Games Day 2008!):

I actually just got that model last week! Love him.

TITH I scored big time, 2 SW packs, 1 TWC, 1 new Tac squad, box of Fen Wolves, Carnifex (for son), box of Stormcast archers (for nephew) and a can of Corax spray for €126. Had to save at least €100 all on sale at local toys to re, I think they're getting out of stocking the range.

Received yet another (bunch of) addition(s) to the hobby-list this week; some miscellaneous models from Inquisition and IG ranges like the Regimental Advisers to use as Inquisimunda characters/NPC's, and got Lugft Huron, one of the last Astral Claws transfer sheets, and some Heretic Militia torsos for the Inquisimunda project as well.

The push for Huron and the transfers was because I've realised FW's already phased out the Carcharodons transfers and I've always had a weakspot for the Badab War. That, and I'm a beautiful hobby butterfly. :P

Greetings

So, this morning I was a good boy, and started sorting out my various bits boxes. A couple of hours later I had pretty much completed this mammoth task, streamlining everything into vaguely sensible stores.

I did see, and get a little distracted by, some objective markers that had been waiting for months (made from skull vox-units) so finally finished them.

During this process I realised that I had a bunch of unused combi-meltas, and since I recently started basing some guys from a _very_ old project for an Apocalypse game, had the sudden idea of upgrading them to be somewhat more seriously anti-tank.

Very pleased with myself, I then noticed a couple of battle sisters that had been gathering dust, and immediately started painting a canoness.

I'm _supposed_ to be working on a Land Raider!
