TITH I nearly finished my Master of Possession for my Night Lords:

TITH I'm painting the skin of an Obliterator.

I've now realised that I am neither good at nor particularly keen on painting large areas of skin

I'm dreading it only because I'm unsure HOW I want to paint the skin. Or more specifically: If I want to prime the entire model white, then paint black over the areas that won't be skin, or go the other way around and prime black, then paint white for the skin to get the result I want to go for.

Today in the hobby, I cut out the ruins sections from my Sector Fronteris Kill Zone box, fit everything cut out together, then managed to only get one bloody tiny single ruins section cleaned up and all mold lines shaved off. Terrain is such a pain...

With the wisdom of hindsight, I'd recommend option one. Many of those skin areas are extremely hard to reach imo, while most of the armor plating is in easily accessible areas; the legs might prove difficult if you've already glued the model to its base. If you're painting in subassemblies, you might wanna do it the other way around for the arms since those are mostly armored.

Looks good! I wondered what color you were going to do the flames. I like it.

Thanks! I had originally intended Hexwraith Flame, but then I realized I could paint the fire with washes.

Only sub-assembly I have for my Obliterators is the front plate was left off.... Yeaaah.

That being said, I had an idea: Prime black, then use Ulthuan Grey as a base then a thin layer of White Scar so I can do the skin.

Yesterday in the hobby I kitbashed a squad of Iron Warriors from a combo of Shadowspear, new CSMs and MK III bits. Waiting on some Obliterators to steal the chaincannon. Also threw together another chaincannon dude for my Red Corsairs.

TITHI attended my store's birthday long enough to pick up a couple of paints and a last-in-stock box of Forgebane, which I was influenced to get because of the work on the Blanchitsu tech-priest. Speaking of which;

Man, lot of great stuff happened in the meantime, eh?

@Gederas, dude, master in a Night Lords army. Both heretical and awesome! Gotta admit I always like seeing the sneaky VIIIth around.

@ Thewarriorhunter, I was worried the robes might be a little too close in colour to the basing scheme but now I really wanna know how it looks. It's a pretty striking 'jedi' look on the Vanguard Libby.

@Megavolt... rebasing. May the Warmaster guide thy way, as it's crazy. I'll admit I'm actually a bit fussy that the new havocs are on 40's as now I can't just toss them in my squads and feel okay... or I need to redo all my squad heavies and feel even weirder.

@El_Dicko, I'm pretty pumped that the kits all to kitbash so well. I know the community site said it but like the new termie instructions saying you get 2 combi plas and 1 combi melta, THEY LIE!! Looks great, too. Again, might be a bit of confirmation bias as I love the heresy sorts.

@Viridia, Blachetsu style really came together, it definitely fits the part of the dark-mech. Gah, now I want some. Jeaaaalousy riiiising.

As for me, I've got about 80% of the way through a Deathwatch Kill team for a mate of mine, aaaand nearly finished work on a counts-as Tybalt Marr. Just gonna do some work on the blade and actually glue and pin the feet to the base so the blade isn't floating.

Post Scriptum: Deathwatch are kinda hard to photograph. Just need some plasma and gemming.

Today in the hobby:

I picked up some Vallejo Black Metal Paint and Secret Weapon Armor wash and discovered how wonderful they are for my Raptors Marines.  It didn't make much sense for covert operatives to have shiny weapons.

Also, I used an eyeshadow brush for the first time to do drybrushing and wonder why I waited so long to try this.  The finish is so smooth, not chalky at all and the gradients of the highlights are seamless.  It's going to help me to get my army painted faster with some really nice results.

Today a random book turned up in the post that I didn't order.

So now I'm trying to work out which book I did order hasn't arrived...

I bought about half of the third ed codices. Being a little disappointed, as a lot of them are cheap saddlebacks. Forgot that.

Think I'm missing 4th ed Tau, so probably they sent this by mistake. But it might be worth something - isn't even listed on Amazon...

Might keep it though - looks like an interesting read - being from 1988.

TITH, I’ve been repairing a few bits that have been on my to-do list, namely Justaerin and some Skitarii Infiltrators/Ruststalkers. Over the last day or so I’ve been prepping all my Titanicus armour for airbrushing, so hopefully lots of progress to come on that front!

...found Storm of Iron, the Grey Knights Omnibus, and Desert Raiders and scooped up all three for less than $3USD from a used book shop. Shadowspear came in today so I start my Word Bearers tonight (as well as more free hand practice than ever) and on an unrelated hobby note I spent some time with family to celebrate my mother's birthday.

So today has been pretty productive.

today i finished pre-assembling (and magnetizing) my 2 knights..... so many magnets, it's a nightmare......

next project: starting on the greenstuff for the bases (after i finally figure out what i want to do with the bases)

Saw someone do IW tartaros termi's with LC's, loved it. Saw a good deal online bought 10 tartaros to do x10 lightning claw termi's. I have 2 termi HQ's and now x30 other termi's should surely be enough now.... Well maybe just one more HQ I have an idea about.
