how much bigger do you all recon it should be? bending the plasticard was actually rather easy

normally , gun shields would / are wheel/tire wide, covering the crew from fire behind the whole gun (check british, german and russian guns from ww2 and you'll see what i mean).

Nowadays(and also during ww2) as the range of the guns became bigger , the need of a shield became less and less as also the barrels became longer and the pressure blast became less.

My advice would be: cover to go iether wheel wide or leave it off completely.

Maybe another piece of advice and if your going to use it is up to you: use double the wheels you have right now (so 4 lego technic wheels on one axle instead of 2) and cover them with a wider piece of plastic card..........and cast them

I'd like some if you do teehee.gif

i'll see what i can do about the shield and possebly add extra lego wheels, however the carriage will stay as it is,since i've based the plans directly off the forgeworld version and quite like the look of it to be honest, not to mention i don't have any casting materials left :p

The only thing that doesn't look right to me would be the rifles all stacked up right on you cannon..lol The would go flying on the first shot! It looks amazing! but I lived in a tend for the better part of a year and the little room I had shook for hours every night as the artillery went out. I wan about a mile away. Just one of those things I guess. But I love it make more! This one came out very well so fan. The blast shield look very good too much better now.

the lasguns are actually mounted on  a plate, although it's hard to see, i just needed something to decorate that side. i'll leave them as they are on this model and just say they are mag-locked. guess i'll just put a crate there with the next models! (of which i'm about to pour the third one)

Great work!

And that Guardsman loading the shell...he's converted from a push-fit, no? If so then that's very well done.

well spotted! both guardsmen holding shells are indeed pushfits+grenade launcher right arm+shell and greenstuffed hands (my first attempt so they are rather mangled hands...)

Those guns are coming out great. ive never cast my own stuff is it hard to do? Is it expensive?

I had never cast stuff before either and this was my first attempt. so far i've spend 120 euros on rubber to make all the molds (which is the expensive part, i ended up using 2 liter of the stuff due to the gun needing a big mold, smaller things need less rubber). the polyurethane to create the replicas is rather cheap, 50 euro for 2 kg, of which i have now perhaps used not even a quartre...

however the way i see it is this, a forgeworld earthshaker emplacement cost roughly 80 euros, so once i've made more then 2 earthshaker carriages myself i think i'm making profit.

offcourse I could have just made them all from plasticard, which would have been much much cheaper!however it would have been a lot more work (making all the angles really nice was already a pain in the ass once, let alone i had to do it 8 times more! so in a way this is me being lazy and choosing the more expensive, less labour-involved option. Once i've finished my battery most likely i will just use the earthshaker molds for the occasional trade, and focus more on casting oilbarrels etc which can make great (EXPLODING! thank you 6th editionwoot.gif ) cover!

Ah, Kitchentable - I saw some of my greatest victories there. Lots of close quarters fighting with all manner of blades. It was bloody work but the results are worth it when you taste your victory.

The Guardsmen loading the guns are brilliant, this artillery battery will do you proud with the amount of work you've been putting in :D

Hendrik , those guns look awesome as is! The casting came out nicely aswell.

But can i make one more small suggestion?? smile.png If you have any sentinels or SM bikes you might have some wheel hub looking bitz over to cover the centre of the wheels.

I think if go 1 step smaller tube wise from the main gun you'll have an excellent size barrel for the medusa.

Now we all want to see them painted offcourse

i had to clear up the working table for my birthdayparty with the family tomorrow so didn't get to do any casting today, however, despite being knackered from partying all night with my friends i managed to get some inspiration due to someone asking how space marine heads would fit on cadian bodies.

they fit nicely in my opinion! ;)
