hendrik
did some more scratchbuilding today, but than i ran out of superglue... hendrik
Is this because we were talking about it earlier? I look forward to seeing how this progresses! absolutely! i've always liked the malcador chassis, especially the malcador leman russ conversions and while bored yesterday stumbled across some decent enough plans on how to build one from plasticard. The pattern worked wonders for the sides, which i really like but the hull piece didn't work out well so i had to redesign that entire section. so far this one only took me only about 3 hours to churn out, most of that time wondering how to reshape the hull section. partly because it was a standard malcadors hull and not an infernus one. hendrik
405 pts, without upgrades. if fortifications were allowed too i could easely add another 300-400 pts to the total as well! Sviar
It appears that I'm out of likes. But the bigger the better, and when it comes to Guard tanks there are no exception to the rule . hendrik
now that the ETL is over for me i felt like converting, so i set out to make a simple gun carriage. after some fidling around here's the result: http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140724_132423_zpsjvcmt5cq.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140724_132431_zpsgzi1l78n.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140724_132444_zpsabrf7zgv.jpg what would you field it as? as autocannon seems a bit dull since the significant size difference as can be seen in the last picture Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277452-cadian-812th/page/8/#findComment-3754713 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Not more Lego! :P It looks good, definitely more than an Autocannon but I'm not sure what it could count as for the size. Doesn't seem suitable for a Lascannon somehow? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277452-cadian-812th/page/8/#findComment-3754735 Share on other sites
hendrik
i decided the design sucked, and the model couldn't really be used in game for anything decent, however, it did give me a good system of making a wheel mounted cannon carriage. based upon the design i set forth and managed to create this: http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140724_161636_zpsawtajrhy.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140724_161654_zpsup4vluxq.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140724_161659_zps01p2ckoa.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140724_161704_zpsf5pmrfxk.jpg a quad gun launcher, with an easy to replicate build, so i can easely make more of it! hendrik
SCRATCHBUILD-FEVER! i alternated the design a bit so i can make both a salamander (marder inspired) and a griffon out of the same tank! http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140725_165044_zpslbnynlib.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140725_164957_zpsoaoffriz.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140725_165017_zps0n60z4if.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277452-cadian-812th/page/8/#findComment-3755815 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Cool, this is the sort of thing I imagined in vain when hoping for a Griffon kit from GW. Kierdale
That's really great work, Hendrik. If I ever get the IA which covers our artillery, I might consider trying something similar. hendrik
managed to get some more work done today, however, i also ran out of superglue so this is where this project will remain for more than a month as i'm off to go on a horsebackriding internship in the Royal ridingschool Buckeburg, in germany. Anyway, here's the status! http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140807_145703_zps8v6ebuuq.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140807_145712_zpsxdamldip.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140807_145722_zpsdvxxvt8g.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140807_145735_zps4x69dsd3.jpg and i managed to finish the heavy stubbers too! http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140807_152803_zpsea7gc1y9.jpg i believe i'm now halfway the build as most of the structural hull is finished. elmo
Any chance of getting a run down of the thicknesses and diameters of the plasticard/rods you have used? I take it you just cut it as per the papercraft template... hendrik
All plates are indeed cut per papercraft pattern (1mm). It's not always a good fit due to the thickness of the plasticard but once glued they can easily be cut in a well aligned manner. The rods started from 1mm and I always took rods that fit into eachother in increasing sizes.
