Rune Priest Ridcully @ The blue is a basecoat of Macragge Blue, I wash the recesses with Drakenhof Nightshade. I use Altdorf Guard Blue for the first layer highlights and then Calgar Blue on the fine highlights. I then give it all a glaze with Guilliman Blue to tie it all together. If I want a slightly lighter final highlight I'll add a bit of Ulthuan Grey to the Calgar Blue.

Thanks guys, I might have to do a Leandros in the process of having his butt kicked. I've finished Sidonus now, made some progress on a Tactical Squad member and done a bit of work on me Rhino.

Hi folks, I've been working on my Ultras a bit more. I caved in and bought some Centurions. I'm still not sold on the look of them but I think they're infinitely better with regular marine helmets. Any hoo here's some pictures.

Hi there, like his Imperial Fists counterpart, poor Lysandersson Hammerthwack got lost in the Warp. However, it's not a bad thing as he's come out of it with a shiny painted hammer. Lucky devil. So anyway Lysandersson Hammerthwack of the Imperial Paws is here and nearly finished.

Hiya, I've begun the next Terminator in my quest to paint yellow to an acceptable standard. This one is from the Dark Vengeance box set. I like the poses but I'm too much of a wuss to tackle the Dark Angel symbols with a blade. So they're part of the furniture now.

Almost finished this Sgt. He's got a few things to straighten out now I've seen them in the photos. Such as the shoulder trims going all the way to the back. I'm trying to think of ideas for to his base, anyone got any suggestions? All I can come up with is gravel which is lame.

For anyone who's interested, the back pack was painted with the new GW paints Averland Sunset and Yriel Yellow.

Here is a picture of another Terminator I've started. This one uses the new GW paints exclusively. Thought I'd see how they turn out.

Right now all this Terminator has had is a watered down basecoat of Averland Sunset and a few thin watered down coats of Yriel Yellow. The only part thats had any more work than that is the helmet. That has had a wash in the recesses with Reikland Fleshshade with a thin brush. It's also had a few highlights of a 50/50 of Yriel Yellow and Ceramite White. Overall so far the coverage of the new Yellow basecoat is really nice. It was quite dark and I didn't quite know how the Yriel Yellow would sit over the top but after a few layers it seems to have come together. If you're wondering about the lack of right arm, I have an assault cannon arm sitting in a Dettol bath awaiting refurbishment.

I think it's safe to say that you've definitely got a skill for painting yellow now. All of the above examples look fantastic to me, the DA Tactical Marine Sgt in particular. The First Legion look oddly appealing in yellow! :P

Cheers mate, I've started a proper Imperial Fist model now. He's a Veteran Sergeant of the 4th Company, unfortunately Photobucket is down for maintenance at the moment but I'll try and get some photo's up tomorrow after work. I have a feeling this will be the first army I have that uses a primary and secondary detachment.

At the moment I'm thinking of having an allied detachment. Maybe some heavy Bolter devs and a Terminator squad in there somewhere. Been a while since I read up on allies and the rules in general. Terminators look better in yellow I think.

I'm thinking of giving him a white banner with and green trim to signify his veteran status amongst the 4th Company. Might work or it could be horrendous. Also I might have to pull of that bolt pistol arm because of the amount of defects.

Ok, so I wasn't happy with the arm or the green so I've had a change of heart and the shoulder trims are black now. Much more visually appealing to me personally. I also started the Sergeant for my Terminator Squad. Many many thin layers of Yriel Yellow later. I got the top plate of his armour smooth.
