KaosRaptor
Unfortunately the fickle gods of Chaos have wiped my previous log to the plains of the Warp and (almost) certain oblivion...but I shall not be dissuaded! The Legion continues to march! So, as a recap I have: Typhus: http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20130714_153643.jpg My Obliterators: http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20130719_134249.jpg http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20130807_154541.jpg http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20130807_154631.jpg I imagine these guys acting as bodyguards for my Warpsmith (who is unfortunately at my parents house). Perhaps they were once loyalists who were given the *ahem* "blessing" of the techno-virus. And my Hellbrute, who has since had his Black highlighted: http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20130730_142212.jpg So what's next for the scions of the Dark Gods....? http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20130807_154247.jpg Cultists. Boo-yah. Thanks for looking! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278133-bits-pieces-from-the-eye-of-terror/ Share on other sites
KaosRaptor
So real life has kinda been taking it's toll on me, which is why this log has receded into the depths of the Warp. That said, the weather today is kinda miserable so I thought I may as well upload some pics! Warning: post may be pic heavy (and the photos may not be great quality!) Firstly my squad of cultists which kinda turned out better than I expected: http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_103905.jpg And my Chosen, kit-bashed from spare bits and my Reaver squad from ForgeWorld. Still a fair bit of modelling work to do (removing mold lines, adding greenstuff, possibly some trophy racks), but right now I'd love some feedback on the poses. They're just blu-tacked together, so excuse any droopiness! Ex-Knight of Blood: Not sure on his pose, I wasn't sure on a decent way to get him to hold the bolter. http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_102911.jpg Bare-bones marine (still needs a bolter added somewhere): http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_103002.jpg http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_103018.jpg Alpha Legion Specialist (Still quite a bit of work here): http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_103054.jpg Champion: http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_103130.jpg http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_103142.jpg Flamer Marine 1: http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_103259.jpg Flamer Marine 2: http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_103652.jpg http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_103702.jpg Bare-Bones Marine: http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_103418.jpg http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_103444.jpg Power Axe Marine (pretty happy with how I attached the bolter on this dude): http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_103531.jpg http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131009_103547.jpg As I said, feedback on the poses would be much appreciated! Bryan Blaire
KaosRaptor, I like all the poses except the ex-Knight of Blood. I just don't think you'd ever hold a bolter like that while running/moving, only if it can be braced steadily against your leg. If I might suggest, see if you can find an Assault Marine arm that is holding a (less-often used) plasma pistol or even a bolt pistol and snip/shave off the weapon, leaving just the grip and a little bit of trigger guard and then cut the grip off the bolter and glue those together. You may have to shape the fingers or shave the bolter above the grip at a little bit of an angle to deal with the thumb being raised when you are seating the bolter, but it would be a less awkward pose than it seems to be now. KaosRaptor
Thanks for your input Bryan; I really wasn't sure on that one. I actually noticed an abundance of plasma pistols in my bits box while I was assembling these guys, so I'll give that a go when I'm home later. +Edit+ Some time later..... http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131010_111651.jpg Blam! Really liking this pose, I think it makes him look much more aggressive. What do other people think? I actually did something similar one of my Word Bearers that I did a way back, so I'm not sure why I didn't think of it earlier haha: http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131010_112012.jpg Thanks for looking! KaosRaptor
Thought I'd through up a couple of WIP shots of a DV Chosen I've been painting. Still a need to highlight him and touch some spots up, but I'm pretty happy with him so far. This Dark Vengeance stuff has been a real joy to paint though! http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131012_171236.jpg http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131012_171254.jpg Thoughts? KaosRaptor
All right so the lighting isn't the greatest, but I finished that Chosen: http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131016_160749.jpg And began properly working on the Alpha Legionnaire in my custom Chosen squad: http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131016_161204.jpg http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131016_161144.jpg Changed his pose a little bit, added a knife and pistol holster and gave him a quick blue base coat. Looking at the photo he's not quite standing on the helmet properly but I can still rotate him so that's ok. Unfortunately I've got tests and exams coming up so progress will probably be REALLY slow for a while. Would still love to hear what people think though! KaosRaptor
So technically I'm supposed to be "studying" or something like that, but I got a little distracted. Whoopsie. Managed to finish these two though! Apologies about the poor photo quality! http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131031_111928.jpg http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af17/KaosRaptor/20131031_112534.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278133-bits-pieces-from-the-eye-of-terror/#findComment-3509143 Share on other sites
Ferrus Manus
Nice gold on the Chosen. Its nice to see I'm not the only on using the SoH minis for modern day Chaos Marines, if I may please paint the one with the Slanneshi head next, the posing is killer. KaosRaptor
I've been in your Tzeentch thread and your greenstuff work is top-notch, so thanks for the compliment! Yeah, Forge World really outdid themselves with the Sons of Horus stuff I think. I wasn't actually sure what mini I was going to do next, but I can do that (you mean the bare head with the bionic eye right?), unfortunately I have an exam in a couple of days so it may have to wait a bit though.
