Son of Carnelian
Greetings, brothers! With the impending release of our new codex, I realized that I have in fact never played as a vanilla Space Marines force in my nearly decade-long time with the hobby. SO! I have chosen Imperial Fists as the chapter I want to play as, and after some research, I've found some good formulas for yellow. But I wanted to confirm with you all: can you use Zamesi desert over a black basecoat (I think it used to be a foundation paint)? Or will it require several watered-down coats? MedPig
Airbrush or spray gun? Should go over it well, if you apply gentle coats, don't go too heavy. As far as brush work, ALWAYS water it down, and go with several thinner coats, work the wet edge, and build it in slow. Urauloth
Zamesi desert will go over black, sure, but you'll need a couple of thinned down coats if you want an even finish and a decent consistency. That's true of almost anything, though. It'll probably go on better over a lighter undercoat (I'm not sure black is an ideal colour for priming imperial fists) but it'll definitely work. Storm Dragons 3rd Company
This caught my attention because I'm seriously considering using it. (I'm playing with schemes using Zamesi, Browns (Dryad Bark, Rynox, Hide or Gorthor), greens (Loren or Death World Forest), and Black. I've been having some second thoughts though because yellows are reputedly so hard to work with. My basic schemes have been brown & green with black, brown and green with Zamesi, Zamesi and brown with black, or use all four. Anyway, I had some questions: "work the wet edge?" What do you guys think of undercoating Zamesi with either tan or a chocolate brown? Or Avarland Sunset? What color would you use to highlight Zamesi? Again Averland Sunset? With what and how do you wash it? Thanks, Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278994-zamesi-desert-and-highlighting/#findComment-3476792 Share on other sites
