Battle for Humanity (Legion)

The I Legion has more European knight influence to it than the Roman Legionnaire touches that you see in the XIII and some others. I'd say feel free to swap around more knightly looking helms and go easy on the feathers - there was still some of that in the HH days, but the 40k Angels are bordering on American Indian costumes.

The HH novels mention the I Legion Assault troops wearing MK II armor when they discover Caliban and are reunited with the Lion. They are later mentioned as manufacturing power armor to equip the Legion on Caliban itself and sending it out with the newly trained marines as they join the Crusade. I believe that it is MK IV but I don't have the book in front of me. You could use whichever armor you like really ultimately it's up to you and your wallet. I'm going to be using a mix of MK II-V for my DA, especially the MK IV which happens to be my favorite. Some MK III helmets spread around for the knightly grill look, no crests if I can avoid it. I will use a few winged helmets for vets and some type of tabard instead of robes.

Okay beaker helms with red stripe as sargents less mkiv and more if mkii & iii for troops. Stay away from black greens, I'd go straight black.

More despoiler troop choices ie. chainswords and bolt pistols and keep the force fast orientated jetbikes outriders and flyers

beaker helms: enough in my bitz box to spread around - check

mk ii & iii: working on these (I'll save my bunch of mk iv helms for mixed armours) - check

black sounds great too (although there was some bit in one of the novels about the DA symbol being on a green pauldron - ah, best to save that for after the heresy and the battle of Caliban!)

Ok, so maybe some Templar bitz thrown in with the FW armours, i.e. helms, tabards, etc.. I agree about the feathers (which is too bad because I have a bunch of the Dark Vengeance terminators which I got for the studded armour - some definite conversions will be in order)

Ah, I forgot about that part of the novel. I'll dig out my copy, thanks! I like the winged helms and tabards seem to fit better somehow. Mk iv helms I actually have a bunch (from Templar sprues, I think). My wallet and I have been having some serious stare downs lately while I've been making my bitz list. no.gif

Please keep the suggestions coming! Thanks!

I was thinking European knights like paladins or roman hoplites?

You mean like front to back crests on vet helms, rather than side-to-side? Or some Brettonian stylized heraldry on the small crested shields worn on some armours?

me personally, If i played the 1st, I would go all out on the monastic knight thing. I love it!

Full robes? Hmm, it saves on hiding FW armour - it would be cheaper whistlingW.gif . Maybe for vet tactical squads and not regular troops? Tech Covenants & Apothecarion Detachments for sure. Howabout for Recon? They're supposed to be in lighter (non-power?) armour anyway...

@prime - how be the sallies coming along? I want an iron hand squad like robocop brother!

just doing some drawings right now............waiting on forgeworld.

the test minis are coming along I guess, I'm currently looking into flat emerald green spray paint. to save time.

robocop huh? Done! I am going to do one as a SGT in Art. armour.

Sweet I watched robo cop 1&2 yesterday on my day off. Love it to death. Busted hands making work :cuss but I'm hoping to get the next 5 veterans done tonight

Did you watch the trailer for the new Robocop yet? Looks good So far.

I didn't know you were doing IH too furioso-prime, I'll keep that in mind.

The trailer had me 'til the armour went black. Why? Why? sad.png

No I actually haven't seen it. I was having a fostered day off and went through my DVD collection and went robo cop or super mario brothers?

Hm, now I'm tempted to name my Techmarine Covenant marines Marius & Luigii...

Here are some of the minis I've built for my vow so far:

Since I don't need a Loken in my army as we are traitors, he formed the base for my Moritat:

I need some input on a techmarine and it's retuine... This is for what will hopefully be a second oath, but I was thinking a 5 man squad of marines as an entourage but equipped with power cells and tools and stuff sort of like neophytes that haven't yet been sent to mars

well, eventually. I am focusing on the Sallies right now. but I will be doing them and RG as allies for the whole Istvaan survivors vibe. a lot of people i've seen do it have predominantly IH with RG/Sally support. im just focusing on the Sallies

Gonna have to disagree with you on that, Mikhail. The new Robocop looks as shiny and sanitized as the new edition of 40k - the grimdark is gone. Alex Murphy is no longer gunned down in brutal fashion by a gang of criminals, but the victim of a car bomb. OCP no longer decides: "I thought we agreed on total body prosthesis? Now lose the arm!"

And to top it all off, he looks like someone doing a cosplay of Batman.

can't wait man!

that is a great Idea

but you just gotta add at least one big wrench A la Rogue Trader

Legio I, yes. Robocop, no!

...and it's pics like THIS that makes me want to do Salamanders! BTW, I love the inspired Iron Hand too.
