Digital codex?

I just noticed this...  On GW's one click collection of Dominions.  They have...

1 Battle Sister w/ Flamer

1 Battle Sister w/ Melta-gun

1 Battle Sister w/ Storm Bolter

1 Battle Sister w/ Simulacrum Imperiialis

1 Sisters Superior w/ Chainsword and Plasma Pistol.

The thing is that you can't have a Flamer, Melta, and a Stormbolter in current dex.  Maybe the whole squad can now take them in the new upcoming dex?  I looked over the Celestian squad and they are geared as normal.

Yeah, I noticed that.  I think we will see them getting 4 special weapons + the superior's weapon in the base squad much like they were before and the way similar units in other codices work.

It looks as if most of us will have to do this. I don't own any kind of reader so paper is my best bet. I agree that owning one and being able to DL any codex to it would make carrying them easier but it also makes it easier for some one to lift(steal) when a stack of books is harder.

I am excited about the release but last night had a 2k game against nurgle CSM and at the end of turn 5, we had a draw. The scenerio was Purge the Alien and the board was hammer and anvil. It was the best game I've had in quit awhile and the sisters proved they CAN do good against a high toughness army so hopefully the new release won't jack things up. Mostly in the past I mostly lose but can blame some on the dice and my not being real tactical. Coming here and reading and visiting with a lot of you has helped so much and I thank y'all for that. Can't wait for the new discussions coming our way.

I'm willing to bet the options are now them pulling from the "Special Weapons" Wargear list which probably doesn't have such a restriction.

Best thing I ever did was start including Penitent Engines vs Nurglez.  They care naught for Plague marines :p

The restriction was that you can only have 2 special weapons per 5 dominions. A restriction that the codex author himself then ignore in a battle report, giving his dominions four specials in a five-sister squad.

Touch wood this has finally been fixed.

I heard some rumor the 2 special weapon per 5 rule was added due to very last minute balance concerns.  It would be nice if that went away.

Yeah, I heard there was a real concern that with 4 special weapons the sisters would be taking 1st place at every event.

Well I just got approval from the Abbess herself (my wife) that I can snag the iTunes points for the digital codex. Which is great so I can see how I will need to go about upgrading my 1000 points of sisters under the white dwarf to a 1500 point all sisters army that will be actually decent to play with. I already know I want to add so e seraphim and the sant to the list, but hoping before I invest in the saint and extra seraphim (I just bought five to start, superior, 2 hand flames and two regular seraphim), that my canoness won't be a total waste of points now.

Also thinking of adding an aegis defense line, and maybe second exorcist to the mix since I still have a spare whirlwind missile sprue laying around. If they allow more special weapons in dominions that will be great I may have to get another melta or two.

As it stands I still have a lot to paint with trying to work my new fist successor, plus my gals. Would love to bring the sisters out In force next time my local store does a tourney, wanted two last weekend, but with a new codex inbound and unable to find a 500 pt marine attachment I liked I had to leave them at home. I figured no sense getting more games in under the white dwarf rules whe I ould just play them after the updated dex came out.

For some reason this digital 'dex has me more excited than I've been in quite a while. Problem is I promised myself not to buy any new models until I've painted at least enough of my DKoK to field 1500 pts. Starting some allied Sisters is definitely going to be my reward for finishing 1500 pts. I'm thinking of starting with a cheap and cheerful squad with bolters to "man" the Aegis and Icarus lascannons since my Kriegers (Assault Brigade) prefer to be aggressive.

I know the feeling. I was really excited about the DElves but this one has sent me over the top. I think that a lot of us are super excited, even tho we know it will just be an update with no new models but it seems to make it more.....important, I think that's the word I'm looking for.

They were always situational depending upon your opponents anyway.  4 Heavy Bolters in your backfield against oh, I dunno, Tyrannids is good.  Or Orks, or Guard.  There are a lot of opponents where just non-rending Heavy Bolters are a good thing.  What I always did before was just use them as fire suppression until say, that unit of Tau Crisis Suits was in the open and needed to get hurt.  Proper planning, fire lanes, using your units to support each other, these are still good things.  A well deployed and implemented battle plan works with zero Acts of Faith.  They are still useful, but they do not replace proper tactics.

Then again, I also play the notoriously cool headed Order of the Sacred Rose, so go figure ;)
