Calth's Retribution - (No Longer in Progress)

Kind of puts me in mind of Robocop, but with a shield and a chainsword. Relentless. Focused. Pissed off. I'd call him a success.

Couldn't say it better myself. The shield is a very nice touch, too; I've been wondering how those would look on PA marines, and they do look very nice. Did you block off the spear-cut with a piece of plasicard?

Thanks gentlemen. Robocop's before my time, but maybe I should see the crappy looking remake that's coming out to catch up to speed.

Kol that's just what I was going for.

Heathens: Yep, plasticard cut to fit and some rough gs work over it. Gonna go back in tomorrow and smooth it over. The others will be getting the square boarding shields with the same treatment I think.

Any movie about my hometown being purged by a machine pistol toting law-enforcing cyborg gets five stars in my book.

@Darth: Good, I ain't the only one who prefers the Square boarding shields over the winged breacher squad ones. Looking forward to more, man. And I'm really glad you found your muse.

What, you mean decades of violence and drugs, political corruption and miles of empty houses full of squatters and meth-labs?

There's a damn reason I'll never go back home, and I live off the land nowadays.

It's bad I know as is alot of America but the fact you guys get snow wins me brother.

I'd love to have a nice little home and live like the old man in the Arjuna anime series but I know it won't happen for me.

Maybe ill move to Canada it's pretty much America :D

Nah, just watch the first one and be done with it. The sequels are pretty mediocre, but the first one is a solid entry into the sci-fi/social satire genre.

The new one looks fairly awful. Like they saw a poster of Robocop once, and not the actual movie because even from the minute and a half long trailer it looks like the missed some of the central themes of the original story.

That aside, I like where you're going with the sword and shield guy.

I like the idea.

One question on clarification, IIRC those who stayed on the planet were trapped for seven years, basically missing the Heresy. Since these are survivors from Calth, would they be part of the fleet that retreated with Guilliman?

That was the original idea. Of course, that only survived as long as first contact with Black Library, which has been steaming full ahead in retcon mode.

Sergeant red Helmet Whatsisname that I could easily Google but won't because I'm lazy, but not too lazy to type this long sentence out, he leaves Calth at the end of the Censure audiodrama.

But it jives with the new direction they are going with the Heresy. Originally, after Istvaan, it was a mad dash to Terra. But now, so they can sell more books, the timeline has been drawn out. With the Ultramarines chasing down the Word Bearers and World Eaters all over Ultramar, it seems like there'd be plenty of time for ships to be going to and from Calth. At this point, we don't even know where Guilliman and the rest of the Ultramarines are headed. In true Black Library fashion, Primarchs will appear at any point in the galaxy they need to be at for any given storyline. ;)

But now, so they can sell more books, the timeline has been drawn out.

50 books.

They could have told the story in 15, easily. But no, we have to get horrible departures of train wreck writing like Nemesis shoe-horned into the series to pad it out.

I don't want to clutter up Potato's thread with this, so I think we should divert it here:

I made us a new thread to complain in, lol.

Vazzy: Yes sir, you also including some in your force?

Ludo: Thanks, dude. I've been trying to do a better job with greenstuff. Seeing all the gorgeous work on here has me motivated to improve on it.

jeremy1391: Appreciate that, bro.

Apologist: Everything a true Son of Guilliman is, eh? I'm humbled by your compliment though, you're one of the driving forces behind this project. The Praetors of Calth have been so inspirational and thought-provoking. smile.png

ColdWinter: Thanks, man. Love me some Evocati.

Vet Sergeant: Yeah I've got no interest to see the remake haha, but I will consider the original. Totally agree with your comments on the "new" Heresy timeline.

Heinrich: Thanks! Again, your Night Lords are a great example of what can be done with a little bit of blood, sweat and tears. And plastic. And resin. And nightmares. tongue.png

Anaziel: Thanks much, and me too, brother. I've got to work on a recipe for the blue. I do feel like I've been more determined to get this thing moving unlike how I was with my 40k guys. The switch to the 31st millennium has been a great decision! It's like a breath of fresh air. I love it here. laugh.png

++++

So here's where I'm at. I placed an order through various bits vendors on eBay, so in the next week or two those should be coming in the mail. Also, I've tacked together a couple Marines for the first Tactical squad, so keep your eyes peeled they should be on here later tonight.

Great to read all your comments, it has definitely pushed me to go at this harder. Anything I can do better or various ideas related to the army are always welcome! smile.png

Yeah my Veterans squad is a squad seconded from The Evocati on Armatura.
