Crusade/Heresy Era Wolf Priests, how to model?

So in preperation to enter Jaspcat's Battle for Humanity project I've been a beavering away assembling my resin horde (can you believe Breacher squads can't take cc weapons!!!), and I wish to include an Apothecary with each 20 man unit. My dilemma is my Despoiler squads will be Space Wolves, which use Wolf Priests not apothecaries. Wolf Priests are a Chaplain-Apothecary combo, atm I'm thinking of modelling the 'Apothecary' with a mace, Wolf Helm and Narthecanium (Fangs of Morkai??). How does that sound? I dont really game, so its more that I like to be fluff accurate.

Cheers,

Jono

My advice go with the narcium and maul but maybe stay away from the wolf helm, they have their culture but it's not yet as refined as 40k wolves.

In the battle of the dang they still aren't as fetished with the totems and fangs and stuff. And that's 32nd millennia. Maybe a couple of trinkets for them but not overboard as they are still legionnaires

I don't agree with Jaspcat on this one. The BL HH-era fluff shows the VI Legion to be fully wolfed-up. The important thing is that your opponent knows that the WP is running as an apothecary rather than chaplain.

That's what I thought, and FW may go that way, but BL's Prospero Burn's cover shows that they are already quite wolfy...

That is pretty much what I was thinking + the Narthecanium in white.

I'm sure that FW will clear it up when they get to the wolves. I think painting the Narthecanium in white will really help this. Athough, with how Betrayel works (paying for the upgrade/s) realistically *IF* I was to ever game, house-ruling and paying both the upgrade points way be a viable alternative.

At Prospero, the Wolves wore maybe even more tribal accessories than the 40K ones, including leather, daemon-faced masks. Because good guys...

I'd agree with greyall here, if you have the collected visions book, flip to page 140 i think it is, thats where all the good wolf art is in it.

These pictures speak for themselves on the wolfiness i think.

I'd just model the apothecaries as wolf priests if I were you, seems like the best option! :)

So here's the model I've just bashed together, minus the Narthecanium thats in the mail,

Any opinions? The Narthecanium will b painted white.

Not a fan of the helmet, it's a bit too much, methinks. Other than that, that's an awesome model.

I'm probably going to move it to his belt and try get one of those bearded heads from the new Sternguard set.

Jono
