ninjasuperspy
Nice work! Stealing that Helm+Rebreather kitbash. recon0321
Those rebreather helms are the from the destroyer squad correct? But what about the bare headed rebreather
AGPO
Recon the bare head is from the new tactical squad, the other re-breathers are converted using imperial guard bits as said earlier in the thread.

Barabbas Sogalon
@AGPO: Thanks a lot! Before I joined this forum I hadn't written anything in English for nearly three years. @recon0321: Will you go Loyalist or Traitor? @Jaspcat: No transports in the immediate future. The men of the 8th Battalion are and always will be foot sloggers meeting Terra's enemies head on. You, my brother, will find us no different. In other news, I have a surprise ready for tomorrow. recon0321
Are the green shoulder pads explored anywhere in the fluff as to how they are painted? I mean some marines have full green pads others have the trim etc....could that be another way of discerning rank?
Barabbas Sogalon
I've always thought it was individual preferences. The original pre-Heresy scheme was with green trims, we only got the green pads with Betrayal. Plan to use both variants.
recon0321
Also do you think most squads were fielded with the same armor or do you think it was up to the individual marine? I can't seem to choose between MK III or IV....I want some V but since these are loyalist don't know how to fit em in
Barabbas Sogalon
I give marines in a squad the same armour, but that's just because I like a uniform look. You could make it look like your marines have scavenged different marks from dead enemies and then have both III and IV.

Barabbas Sogalon
ORGANIZATION OF THE VIII BATTALION, VII GREAT COMPANY: THE FOUR SQUADS Of the many Tactical Squads in the Battalion, there are four that stand out in both status and function on the battlefield. They are named Tartaros, Acheron, Charon and Thanatos, names taken from ancient Terran myths of the Netherworld to emphasize the mission of the Last Judgement. 1st Squad is called Tartaros and made up of the Battalion’s best warriors, legionaries that have proven themselves in battle several times. The warriors of this squad epitomizes what it is to be Death Guard; they are resilient, equipped to handle any situation and able to adapt to sudden changes in the flow of battle in a moment’s notice. To them, existence is all about survival at any cost. A large part of Tartaros’ combat doctrine is influenced by their current leader, sergeant Skander Barleti, an ambitious veteran notorious for his recklessnature and unorthodox methods. He prefers to lead his squad to where the fighting is thickest, never faltering in the face of impossible odds and using anything to his advantage. When Battalion-Commander Barabbas takes to the field of battle it is often in the company of these warriors, earning them the nickname the Commander’s Chosen. 2nd Squad bears the name of Acheron. A majority of its legionaries are of Terran origin, veterans that have served Emperor and Imperium since the beginning, and because of this the squad’s way of war is unchanged since the time of the Dusk Raiders. Acheron is led by Lieutenant Kulvain Metehan, a warrior from the early days known for his cold demeanour and disdain for Barbarusan influences, who is often given command in the Commander’s absence. As a result of their long service and higher standing in the Battalion, they are the only squad fully equipped with Mk IV Power Armour. Acheron is responsible for carrying an ancient vexilla from the Legion’s founding on the battlefield, this honour is reflected in their motto In hoc signo vinces. 3rd Squad Charon is a blunt weapon used in carving bloody paths through enemy lines, boarding actions and storming fortifications. They excel in close combat, once being compared to a battering ram hammering into their foes with chainswords roaring. Their sergeant is the brutal and aggressive Simeon Kruik, one of the original Death Guard fighting alongside Mortarion on Barbarus. Even outside his Legion he has the reputation of a merciless butcher and violent duellist. In extermination campaigns, Charon has been known to strike at population centres. 4th Squad is Thanatos, whose ranks are filled by younger generations of Barbarus born under the leadership of the venerable Terran Caleb Harkus. Though young, only legionary Ishak Tolgahan has served more than twenty years, the legionaries of Thanatos are capable warriors usually found at the front where they hold the line with volley after volley of bolter fire. All of the Four will be sent to the surface of Istvaan III at the dawn of the Heresy. deathspectersgt7 and recon0321 2 Back to top
