I plan to keep the thread rolling with whatever I'm painting and occasional glimpses into the archive. The world and his dog have painting logs so why not join in? First up, the Currus Belli. I've vowed to paint a rhino and a land raider crusader by 5th January. If they go well I might make a second vow, for which I have something special up my sleeve. I had a head start on the land raider, having already cleaned up and undercoated most of the parts. On Sunday I got stuck in and painted the interior before assembling the hull. I had a bad time getting the front hatch to fit. It's an early Forge World piece, bought over a decade ago before they'd sorted out their quality control, and the hinges(?) were too close together to fit in the notches on the hull! http://i1205.photobucket.com/albums/bb440/Cactus-/Currus%20Belli/20131104_084538_zpsc1cfd976.jpg The techmarine was there to ensure I painted the black and white halves of the cogskull the right way round but now I feel it would be unlucky not to have him oversee the whole process, so he's staying on my painting tray for the forseeable future! Last Saturday I took part in a 3-a-aside game, 3000 points each. I'd finished painting my Deathwing Champion and a third sergeant that week which meant a fully painted Deathwing army was within reach. One hasty drop pod later and this is what I had. Coming out of the land raider and failing to charge the Imperial Guard blob 4" away; smiting a necron lord attached to one wraith and watching every... single... wound... be passed off to the wraith who passed every... single... 3+ invulnerable save; being shot at by a small unit of fire warriors and failing both 2+ saves... it goes on. Dark Rage Posted August 25, 2014 Share Posted August 25, 2014 Looking good I used to do a similar heraldry design for my Deathwing shoulder shields to show what company they were originally in before they gained veteran status and joined the RW or DW never thought to do it on the Ravenwing though, very nice.
