The rule of cool has always appealed to me.

My thoughts on this is to have my Night Lords Praetor in Cataphractii Terminator Armour with Chainglaive(or as I now like to call, the murderglaive) and whatever else I feel like.  I guess an Iron Halo or whatever else for some survivability.

Great minds think alike.

I tend to shy away from the auto pick choices (such as the paragon blade) and model whatever looks the most badass. You can't go wrong with a chainglaive, hell I'd even go with twin claws or a number of different configurations, anything really to make the coolest looking model I'm able to.

Oh and woulden't the iron halo be pointless for a cataphractii since they both yield the same 4++ save?

I don't care too much for Paragon blades for the simple fact that they just unfortunately make every other option available utterly obsolete in comparison except for maybe a powerfist. I mean heck, aside from not having Armour bane, the paragon blade is essentially Gore Child point for point. I mean why take anything else? If I ever get to play any 30 games, I'll elect to try and have us agree not to use them for simple sake of variety but I'm not really that against it.

The only Paragon blade I will use is on Autek Mor for the simple fact that that's what he comes with.

Nearly all of ours round here use paragon blades, I did plan one with a chainfist for an Xth legion army because he was tough enough to get a swing in ;)

One of my buddies has a thunderhammer praetor which either dies immediately or causes horrific carnage!

Unfortunately my current iron warriors are too lowly to host a praetor ;)

He's probably throwing them at those damn power fist, artificer armour sargs that everyone-and-their-primarch has in their squads.

EDIT:throw somethings hard enough and they'll cause a wound. A rending charnabal attack usually doesn't

I'd say the best praetor is the one you feel proud to put down on the game table.

As for a loadout on one, I learned to be really frugal back in the 3rd ed days when you had a limit on the number of points to spend on your HQ armory choices, so I've always run mine pretty lean.

I will cast my vote in with the previous posts about the chainglaive. I mean... it's amazing AND fluffy! Bonus: it looks cool as hell, too.

Why thank you but they do take a pummeling when I go against that damn point and click Paragon blade, either way its over-indulgence and it suits the EC perfectly for it laugh.png

Its the only way to kill them, with excessive force thumbsup.gif I find the sarges are far easier to deal with using shooting, same with enemy Praetors (and by that I mean I like to knock a wound off to even the duel out)

My XXth legion Praetor will be armed with a knife, placed in your praetors back, while you trying to free that paragon blade from the body of the Legionnaire you thought was my warlord

In seriousness I haven't got round to a Praetor yet, will more then likely go with bolter, archotech pistol and some sort of close combat weapon. Or twin lightening claws for coolness factor.
