Here's my first Land Raider. t took me for ages to get the heart to start building this baby - I painted him up in Word Bearers colours with a way too thick paint layer, so I had to clean him up and wait for parts to replace the salvageable parts. I collected all possible land raider FW upgrades over the past two years, and this guy has them all - extra armour, chaos tracks, doors and the driver and gunner models. I never actually pay the points for the extra armour as most penetrating hits are +1 or +2 anyway, but it looks cool IMO. There's another one being built right now, on which I'll start a WIP thread. Sadly I already bought the FW chaos tracks for it, otherwise I would have bought those awesome hooked tracks that Brother Heinrich used for his land raider. The next one will be slightly darker and I'll use less reds as this one gives me a slight holiday season vibe - although it might have to do with the fact that I painted him up last Christmas...

Land Raider, 47th company, "Night's Anvil". Used as a command vehicle by Tol Zhaeqal until his internment in Chapter Master Hakor Zhil's Contemptor Dreadnought. Now used exclusively by Terminators of 9th Claw in raiding actions.

Brother Heinrich and Flint, the comments about the tortured child have made me think: would we as Night Lords not use terrorist tactics - say torturing someI high profile person purely for the sake of torture and then release that person back to the planet s/he came from in order for her/his tale to strike fear into the hearts of the populace? If so, than the Night Lords must be masters of keeping peeps alive too. The longer they survive, the more excruciating the torture no? :D

Sorry to double post. Here's my finished Night Lords Plague Marine Rhino to go with 17th Claw led by Daleth Onn. Pretty happy with the result, as I painted the Plague Marines up months ago and didn't quite remember the how to of the exact color scheme. As you can see in my WIP thread I used  sand and PVA to mimic rust effects. It gives a subtle texture which works great with AK Rust and Grime Effects. To finish it off I dipped some of the rusty areas with a 4:1 mix of GW SCrag Brown and GW Lahmian Medium. This is also the first model I tried a new riveting technique on, and I have to say I am really pleased with the result.

A hat tip to Brother Heinrich for the excellent idea of using the extra and top armour of the vindicator set on Rhino's. I just ordered me another set of off Bits and Kits to go on 14th Claw's Rhino. Cheers!

C&C welcome!

Oh so very tasty !  7 plague marines with mkiii legs, two meltas, power fist, standard, and gorgeous rhino to top it all off (we'll just forgive the colour since you did it so well)... was this my Christmas present?! :D hehehe

Approved (not that you need my approval for your awesome skills!).

So today I finished the second Land Raider in my army. Like the first one, it has extra armour for which I never pay the points, this time the spaced armour variant. Additionally, the pilot has a helmet from the new FW Raptor kit (fricking awesome helmets!!!!) and MkII pads. The raider has a custom Night Lords symbol on its hood - my WIP thread starts with a pic of this symbol sans paint.

The lighting of the pics is a little off, sorry about that.

Hope you enjoy, C&C very welcome!!

Today I finished the second Plague Rhino in one looooong paint session. I tried to go for a similar, yet different build for this Plague Rhino, compared to the first one. The parts used are mostly the same, but in order for it to look different enough I shifted the top hatch from the starboard to the port side of the tank, raised the vents ribbed vents of the rear section and build new rims around those. The conversion was my first real use of different types of plasticard, and you can still see some scratches and marks, but I believe I have masked them well enough The fact that it has damage everywhere helped a lot! thumbsup.gif Check out my WIP thread on page 2 for pics of the conversion.

Replies:

It's just as good as your other stuff and the wings on the top is still one of my favorite parts thumbsup.gif

Cheers! One set left. No idea where they will go. Any ideas for a new project?

Love the tanks. Makes my loyalist soul cry abit lol. Bases for them really add to the model. Keep up the great work.

Thanks man, don't worry, sooner or later you loyalist chumps will eventually realize you've been duped by that corpse.

Still looking quite awesome!

I think my favorite part is your swap of the pedestrian heavy bolters for some sweet looking autocannons. Dunno how they'll ever use the bayonets, but dammit, they're gonna try!

Thanks Flint! I figured with the bayonets on the reaper batteries on Heinrich's former Fire raptor, I'd continue the theme ;-)

Two words Flint: Tank. Shock. biggrin.png

VROOOOOOOOOOM *slash* Could work. wink.png

Amazing work! If I ever come over to the dark side, I'm definitely going Night Lords.

Go for it. The Dark Side has the Emperor, after all.

This is the best Night Lords army I have seen. Keep up the great work.

Thank you so much! And I'll try of course. thumbsup.gif

Hi everyone! A slight detour from the Lords of the Night.

Let me start with some fluff.

+++

Less than two standard days after arriving at the Verinox Refueling Station in the gas clouds of the Alhan Cluster, long-range scanners of the 47th armada detected a small flotilla of lightly armoured transport ships emerging from the Warp in-system. Standard vox communication, short-range scans, and identification markers identified the ship as mercantiles and the main ship was allowed to dock at the station for refueling. Contemptor-captain Tol Zhaqael sent Librarian Qas Thoval as an emissary to the ship. Even before entering the transportation corridor of the station's five kilometer-long docking arm, Thoval felt the presence of another mind... Wary, he approached the ship's docking Oculus, waiting for the guests to emerge. As the Oculus slowly opened, Thoval saw a large, robed figure emerge from the shipbay's inner shadows. "Hail, brother of the VIII.", a deep but soothing voice sounded. Qas Thoval wasn't sure if he had heard the voice through his helmet's vox or directly in his mind. The figure bowed slightly, as it stepped through the Oculus, allowing its helmet's horns to pass freely through. As he stepped fully in the light, the figure raised himself to his full heigth. "Hail, Thousand Son" Thoval said curtly. And then, with a sarcastic undertone "What brings you here, other than those little ships of yours?". The answer intrigued him: "Sacrifices from the VIII and the XV alike."

Mighty fine work Augustus - a true inspiration to all of us VIII legion fans. Keep it up bud.

Thanks Bruegel! I hope you dig the 1000k sons too. :-)

Very cool looking and an unusual match up, so you score even more extra points.

I know you are already comfortable working with blues, but I like how you matched the blue up with white to give a very crisp look.

Cheers,

I'll second Honda, they look super clean and crisp.

I love how that contrasts with the terror markings. Definite originality points for pairing them with 1000 Sons. The Sorceror's little eye fangs are my favorite.

These are beautiful really, nice bit of fluff too brother

Thanks helterskelter! I never wrote fluff, but am more and more realizing how cool it is to concoct these little backstories for my models. Glad you enjoyed it.

Cheers Honda! The tabards are the first models Ive ever painted using a white undercoat. Forte's thread on the purple of his Emperors Children kakaphoni where a good inspiration.

Thank you Flint! They where a blast to paint. My next infantry project may well be Night Lords noise marines or Khorne Berzerkers. Don't know how im going to tie them in visually, so ideas welcome. :-)
