Kierdale
Good work so far! I've seen surprisingly (and disappointingly) few Lords around. The_Chaplain
Brother Fulminata; I implore you- do not put the head on it until you see the full contents of the knight box with your son. There is a head that, with a little work, would look exactly like the Iron Warriors chapter symbol that I think will fit the model. Fulminata
Did the backwards base affect the model at all? No, I don't think it did. The torso is now glued on along with the arms. Painting the Gret Cleaver now. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286905-the-iron-lord-of-skulls/page/2/#findComment-3598510 Share on other sites
Fulminata
So it is Wednesday night, 2200hrs and time for my to hit the sack. It has been along day, and tomorrow is another long day in the battle bunker. Here are some more painted pieces. The torso and arms are now glued together. I am hazard striping the great cleaver and right shoulder guard. The blood tanks are tedious mofos, I only have the patience to work on one at a time before I must go to something else. I am going to paint up the skullhurler and daemogore cannon tomorrow and attach them. Not sure if I will glue them in or not. They seem to be the best option for me and the armies I face. We'll see. Oh, BTW the two Caestus nacelles are glued together, we should have a warm, sunny day tomorrow to primer. Here are the photos. http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh111/fmcbide4/Lord%20of%20Skulls/cb599b7c731a466eb1ab06bb1f067a76.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh111/fmcbide4/Lord%20of%20Skulls/c947d6709099cedae4b1341dce70b4a2.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh111/fmcbide4/Lord%20of%20Skulls/360de5111dcada9e58d1b046f02ee496.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh111/fmcbide4/Lord%20of%20Skulls/feaf4eebff34d1c54f72b187a61a75d9.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh111/fmcbide4/Lord%20of%20Skulls/a17c24e672d8c85b5912ba5d3dc6221e.jpg I decided to paint the left arm and shoulder guard Khorne Red. My 20 Iron Berzerkers will be painted the same. Imperialis_Dominatus
For some reason I didn't consider painting it dissimilar to the GW one. I may have to pick one up now that you've reminded me. My World Eaters are going to be heavily blood-splattered white and blue with brass trim... could work. Or perhaps I'll paint it in the colors of the Knights of Blood. Fulminata
Thursday morning....almost finished with the Great Cleaver...just have to paint the teeth silver, then Blood for the Blood God. He head is not attached, I was sent a picture last night of on of the heads from the forthcoming Knight Titans. One looks exactly like the Iron Warriors symbol. I am getting ready to primer my Caestus Assault Ram, it is finally a warm sunny day in Virginia. http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh111/fmcbide4/Lord%20of%20Skulls/cde5765676830039c69288ca3824c5a4.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh111/fmcbide4/Lord%20of%20Skulls/ccbda79a06db8f0f97466053e5358a8d.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh111/fmcbide4/Lord%20of%20Skulls/166cacb8e6d554146d009975aff7434f.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh111/fmcbide4/Lord%20of%20Skulls/ffed635591509c0569bc3614b31f4dc5.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286905-the-iron-lord-of-skulls/page/2/#findComment-3598902 Share on other sites
Warsmith Aznable
I didn't know the Khornate bunny ears were a separate part on the heads. That is very good to know. Fulminata
I was thinking about putting some horns on the helmet instead of the Khorne symbol, but the horns I have are ridiculously large (from an Ork Stompa) or too small (from Daemon prince). I am going to finish it with the Khorne rabbit ears. The_Chaplain
it is finally a warm sunny day in Virginia. What are you talking about "finally" man it's practically been tropical once the snow started melting; practically shorts weather! That chain weapon looks pretty spiffy- good yellow you've achieved on it. Fulminata
What a busy day. Still a few things left to finish tomorrow, but I did get quite a bit done today. Here are a crap-ton of pix. What a disaster. Not sure if it was the weather that dipped midway through the process, the resin model of the primer I used (Army Painter Gun Metal), but it is covered in splotches, really shiny, and smooth. I was hoping I wouldn't have to paint the whole model, but it looks as if I have no choice. Here are some photos of the fuselage and nacelles glueing together. http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh111/fmcbide4/Caestus%20Assault%20Ram/818dd8e935c45a298d94cd3904a69afe.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh111/fmcbide4/Caestus%20Assault%20Ram/ADA5DD40-6CF4-4387-B531-C46DBD0FAF49.jpg Hope everyone enjoys the update. The_Chaplain
Rally don't want to send you into a fit...but I think that entire side of the caestus near the (left on the picture) assault ramp needs to be heated and bent again- it's really curved going off the picture. It is pretty noticeable in that second picture particularly, but maybe not so much in the first. Maybe it's the angle exaggerating it? Fulminata
So, Photobucket quickly shut me down when I went over my bandwidth. That figures, as soon as I posted my completed Iron Lord of Skulls. I have created a new Gallery Page titled Iron Lord of Skulls. Please take a gander at that to view all the pictures in its glory. (BTW, it died at the end of the first round against my sons orks. He whittled it down to 5 wounds after shooting, hit is with 4 D weapons and rolled 2 6s for penetration. I took his down to 2 wounds, but he has the stupid ork apocalypse rule where he can regain all hull points at the beginning of his next turn. I have to wait for my following turn to bring ILos back on the table) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286905-the-iron-lord-of-skulls/page/2/#findComment-3600669 Share on other sites
