This next conversion is a Night Lords version of the Imperial Fist Captain Alexis Pollux, the Crimson Fist. I really loved this character and all his stats and abilities, and so I wanted to make his model, but wasnt sure I wanted to have to facny him up as an Impy, so I compromised and made him a Night Lord :happy.:

C+C Welcome! :smile.:

Night Lords version of Alexis Polux is complete! I've used the Emperor's Champion model as the base and added a lot of various bits to make this guy.

Storm Shield (this piece actually comes from the Heroscape model Finn the Viking Champion)

Night Lords symbol/Iron Halo, because he strangely has both a storm shield and an Iron Halo according to the rules :blink.:

Comments? Critiques?

I haven't gotten a ton of feedback, but hey, I might as well keep posting my work :smile.:  This will be a bit larger post by the way

Finished up my Cataphractii's! I finally had the time to sit down and finish putting the lightning bolts on them and some other details

Sarge. the officer's coat he holds is a conversion from the Tempestus Scions set, I thought it would make a fun trophy:happy.:

Special weapon duo, Heavy Flamer and Volkite Charger. You can't see it very well in this picture, but I tried to go for a green glow effect on the Volkite

And the Combi-Plasma pair. On these two I've given them the knuckle blades as well as fingers.

What thinks Bolter and Chainsword? :biggrin.:

I cannot speak for the entire forum but I can for myself. And I say cool! I really like your brighter-than-usual colour scheme for the Night Lords. It's something I used to do but strangely have slowly moved away from. You've inspired me to go back a little. :tu:. The pollux Conversion is ace and I like the use of the bat wings-as-halo. I agree that it is a weird combo but hey, you can't have to much protection. Although to quote Lusiphur from Posion Elves: shields are for wimps. ;) I also totally dig the mix of different patter weapons with the cataphractii armour. One nitpick is the chains: you've used jewelry chain with a 'flat' pattern, which (IMO) unfortunately is very hard to look like realistic miniature chain. I find that the best chain is 90° chain link with at least 18 but preferably 24 links per inch. Here's a site you can buy it for cheaps! Hope this helps mate and keep it up with the awesome conversions. Those claws look killer! :tu:

I love the coat trophy!

+1. They look terrific. One little suggestion, though: have you considered a blue glaze for unifying the blue and blending  highlights and shading together?

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, I'll have to see if I can get some better chain, thanks for the input :smile.:

I really like how the coat turned out, I thought it would be the perfect addition to the Sarge. :happy.:  I have been trying to find something to help smooth out the colors and give it a little "shininess" and give the edges some more definition, but the only wash I've tried dried out and darkened the colors too much. Do you have any suggestions for what to use?

Alexus Pollux is looking sweet as hell! Planning on doing any other night lordifyed versions of named characters?

The Praetor at the top of the page with the sword is a NL version of Sigismund, but I'm not yet set on any other characters, although it would definitely be a fun challenge. I have been thinking about modding up the new Khârn model...  Any suggestions?

I use Citadel's blue glaze (I think it's called Guilliman Blue) on my own Night Lords and it really has a great, slightly shinny finish. Another option I have used in the past (on Grey Kniights) was a water-diluted Clear Blue Tamiya paint, but a regular glaze would be probably safer...

  • 2 years later...

The Night Lords of the 4th company are back! It has been a crazy long time, but all spent in worthwhile pursuits. But here I am, back with more Night Lords. I hada few new projects to work on and thought I might as well have all my army in the same place rather than splitting them all over.

To begin, I've been hacking up some old mini's to convert into Night Lords, and here is my new Moritat from start to nearly finished. He's a major kitbash. His helmet is the space marine commander helmet with the bionic eye, and I've added a sort of gas mask to it for a little bit of a unique look. The little refractor field generator on his backpack comes from a Necron weapon.

I still have some work to do to get the base tidied up a bit and add on the lightning bolts. I will say, I'm very pleased with the glow effects! I finally decided to abandon shiny metalic colors for power weapons, plasma stuff, and even eyes and go for the glow, and so far, I'm liking it a lot more than the old stuff!

Some of you have probably seen these already, but for any of you who havent, I also repurposed some crappy Assault on Black Reach termies into a true scale squad, on whom I also practiced the glow effects.

Its good to be back everyone! Let me know your thoughts on my new stuff!

Likewise, I've been trying to decide if I should go halfsies on the new Dark Imperium set with a buddy of mine and use the Primaris as True Scalers, or if I should save up and get the Betrayal at Calth set. Any thoughts?

My next project is doing a Night Lords conversion of Khârn the Bloody/Betrayer

I decided to do the Warp Talons chain ax conversion that I did for my Raptors a long time ago. I think it looks pretty good! I figured I'd try the shirtless style thing. What do you think so far?

I would do a bare head, but I am awful at painting faces, so I think I'll do a mk iv helmet or something. Any suggestions?

I'm sure Mk IV work look great :) Or maybe a Mk III helmet, if you have one? They look really brutal imho, which may suit a Khârn conversion?

Got him all finished up! I trimmed down a converted mk iv helmet so it doesn't look quite as disproportionate. Here are some of the assembly pics and the almost final project. Again, I just need to put the lightning bolts on him.

I realized after putting him together that his pose is pretty much exactly like the Forge World Khârn model. Whoops! But still really cool looking! I am very very pleased with how he turned out. I don't usually paint skin, but I'm really impressed with how well his torso turned out!

Finally decided to go in with a friend of mine to get the new box set. He's getting the nurgle stuff and I'm getting the Primaris Marines. I know that a lot of people have beefs with these new fellows, and honestly I'm kind of indifferent currently. More than anything, I'm going to be using them as true scale marines or stand ins for other kinds of units. I might revamp my Sevatar model using one of them or something. As always, I'm going to be doing some heavy converting, but I'm just trying to decide how I want to go about it. Any requests for how I should build them?

Finally got around to building my last True Scale guy. I decided I'd go for the Nostroman Chainglaive on this guy, and then hada hard time deciding what to do for the other arm. I finally settled on using a necron arm holding a resurrection orb, figuring I could use him as a true scale Jago Sevatarion. Since he has the divination powers, I figured it could be a nice touch. The dead chaos stuff on his base will be painted in Word Bearer colors

With all this, I'm thinking of using one of my new Primaris to do a fully updated Sevetar, so the above guy may end up just being a sergeant or something.

Made a trade the other night and got my hands on a TON of Chaos bits. I got a lot of Berserkers, marines, and possessed. I still want to stay close to the pre-heresy aspect, so I have a lot of work on my hands to clean these up. I've spent the last few days tearing apart the minis so they can be reposed and repurposed.

With all the extra chain weapons, I decided to add one on the Dark Vengeance Chaplain

I have a lot to do. On top of all this, I'm going to be getting the Primaris this weekend, so you'll be seeing a lot of me in the near future.
