Banner Conversion Ideas and Help Wanted

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I recently bought a lot of 15 pre assembled, unpainted marines on eBay (the price was too good to pass up.) I am working on converting 5 of the 15 into a commands squad. I want to add a banner of Devestation to the command squad, but man it quite sure how to go about doing this as the models are pre-posed and don't really have any free hands. Assuming I don't cut off one of the weapons to free up his hands (which I might), what would you suggest? That big of a banner might look silly on a backpack. Also, how would you suggest making a banner? I will use left over sprue parts for the frame of the banner but don't know how to make the flag part besides green stuff.

Do you think this may be possible or should I just go buy a banner in eBay?

There are a lot of different ways you can make a banner, the easiest being Ebay, Bitzbarn, or any other number of 40k bits sources. Veteran Sergeant even made a banner for himself with the banner poles and pieces from the sprues based off of the banners of the Roman Legions. It looked pretty badass.

I would say buy off of ebay if your not willing to invest some/alot time/money/energy.

If you have plasic card of some kind around (signs or stuff like that) you could give this a try. Or if you are not too choosy about the shape, if one of your friends plays Warhammer Fantasy ask them, there are usually more banners in the boxes than you need.

And I'd say using an outstreched arm (spare boltpistol/chainsword arm) would definitely look better than a back banner that huge.
