Question on Gorgon Terminators

Recommended Posts

So I've decided to start part of the ship slowly -- very slowly -- building my Iron Hands Horus Heresy part of the crew army, and I'd like to include some of the new Gorgon Terminators.  I love the Cataphractii look -- just look at my sig -- but FNP is better than a 4++, I think.

However, I want some advice on modelling them, since there isn't a kit for them yet.  And frankly, there probably won't be, since Gorgons are described as being "prototype Indomitus-pattern" suits. . . Indomitus being the "modern" TDA we all know and love.

So I'm going to do some light conversion work -- adding struts and cabling, etc to represent the requisite bionics -- to the models, but I'm at a loss at how to adjust the models to represent their prototypical nature.  The only things that have come to me so far is to use plasticard to provide squared-off pauldrons (but that makes it look too close to the Cataphractii, I feel) or to add the bonding studs to the greaves and gauntlets (a la The Red Wake's model).

Any other ideas you guys have?  I'm open to suggestion.

Haha! Reinforcements arrive! Welcome to the heresy brother :D

For the terminators, I like your idea on patterning it after tyberos. Perhaps even have layered plating like mk2 power armor. For heads you could use tech marine pilot heads to go along with the layered armor look. And remember, anvil industry has bionic arms for terminators.

Almost forgot to mention that we are the only legion with access to 3++ terminators. If you take a cataphractii command squad, they have access to cyber familiars. Cyber familiars are an upgrade to characters only, they give +1 to your invul and allow re rolls to characteristic checks. Everyone in a command squad is considered a character ;)

Cough - Salamander Cataphractii with Dragonscale Storm Shield - cough

EDIT: On to the OP, from personal experience I've modelled some things before FW released their, which were loads better. So be aware. The good thing is if the Gorgons get released and are awesome you can supplement the ones you currently have or use your ones for normal terminators (or use the FW Gorgons as regular terminators if yours are awesome).

For me because my 'normal' terminators are all Cataphractii - I'll be getting 10 Tartaros and 'studding' them up to become my Gorgons at least until any FW ones are released - I personally like how smooth and lithe they look despite the weight of terminator armour, thus to me it speaks plainly of prototype.

But I'd love to see someone either scratch-build some or convert some...

I'll be attempting just that!

Blending the Death Guard Termies with standard Indominus would make for a nice prototype style look. Adding some studs and heavy cabling to the indominus sections would highlight it's prototype nature, and could help represent the physical bonding necessary for the suit to function.
