Trokair
With the imminent release of the Imperial knights I have been thinking about the potential application of one in my GK force. The two variant, Paladin and Errant, are almost the same point cost and are equally nasty in close combat. As such I think it comes down to their main ranged weapon and what role that can fulfil. The Paladin has Battle Cannons that has virtually infinite range (on a normal table), which are great at killing MEQs. So long range fire support. That said I think most GK list can deal with MEQ easily enough. The Errant on the other hand brings the thermal lance, the meltas bigger brother. Less range, but it can kill AV13/14 and TEQ quite well, something that my GK find difficult at range. As such I am leaning towards the Errant. What are your thoughts, opinions and hopes for the iKnights in a GK army. VVolf
*I appear to have gotten some facts wrong, please ignore anything irrelevant. I'm going with a Knight for the following reasons: 1. Its a Knight (titan). The name fits :p. 2. The battlecannon gives you 2 shots. 3. Its much harder to miss with a large blast. Plus you get -4 to scatter. 4. You can take out groups of units opposed to 1 unit at a time, I would rather chance killing say 5 terminators per shot then definately kill 1 per turn. 5. We have psycannons (anti-tank), but no ranged ap2/3 barring hench. And definately no large blast weapons. The only plus' I can see to the Errant are that it can hit flyers (waste of shot without psychic powers, that don't affect super heavies) and that it can reliably hurt other super heavies/heavy armour. For GK, especially pure GK which I play, the Knight wins hands down in my opinion. Bloodgrin
From rumors, they are Allies of convenience with Grey Knights and Eldar. Definitely looking forward to using them and getting more information when the Codex hits. jeffersonian000
The only weapon on Knights that can hit Flyers is the Heavy Stubber. The Thermal Lance is a Large Blast, just like the Rapid Fire Battle Cannon. VVolf
Ah my mistake. I never actually checked the rules from the rumours I read. Rest of the points stand however. Gentlemanloser
Its a Knight titan It's not a Titan. ;P Just a Knight. Some folk get mighty upset if you call them Titans... (Not me!) VVolf
Bah nitpicking, if it looks like a duck and acts like a duck... I'm actually rethinking the thermal cannon now. I think it could be very useful since I realised its a large blast. If its magnetised I can swap it anyway - plus FW are said to be releasing other weapons. Kilofix
Thinking of building an IK for GK or Inquisitors too but what colors would it be? Has there been any precedent on a GK / Inq aligned House? Or should it be AdMech? Or a made-up House with Grey / Red colors? Reclusiarch Darius
No, all of the Knight Houses are Ad Mech aligned. Those that didn't side with them got destroyed during Unification. jeffersonian000
Knights are Knight-class Titans, the smallest of the Titans, per 20+ years of fluff. Says that they aren't Titans is an incorrect statement.
