Hey all, been lurking here for a while now, hating my lack of skill more and more with each mini posted

so figured its probably about time i posted some of my own before i lose all confidence lol

so basically been into the hobby off and on for around 11 years (generally off long enough to lose/give away all my mini's and have to start again from scratch lol)

Been a son of Dorn since i first picked up a friends BT codex (when we had our own and weren't psycher hugging god emp loving..... never minds lol)

always planned on eventually doing a few IF mini's but planned on waiting till FW released sigi or the man him self... but alas i needed a new EC so thought why the hell not do THE FIRST Emperor's champ..... 1st captain Sigismund!!! consider me part of the ship..... just as soon as my first FW order turns up

Waffled on for long enough i think so without further ado my first atempt at yellow, my first IF model and my first (allbeit loose) delve into the grim dark world of 30k

Apologies for the awful phone pics only just noticed how flat and washed out they look

Obviously very much still a WIP need to highlight still and the arms/sword and shoulder pad are just place holders till my FW order turns up (mk4 power weapon set *2 handed chain sword converted to power sword and the IF/BT brass etch kits for pads) and probably attempt some freehand on his tabard/loin cloth

Well here he is finished Sigismund 1st captain of the VIIth legion Imperial Fists, 1st Emperors Champion, 1st high marshal of the Black Templars...... well finished as far as i can take him till his arms turn up lol

First off, welcome to BnC and beginning your journey. Your conversion work is well done and you have an eye for posing a figure that makes them look realistic, which isn't necessarily an easy thing to do. So props on that.

 

Yellow is just an interesting and fickle beast. :)  From what I can see on your Sigi, the base coats seem to be a tad thick. Did you thin them any? Your weathering is spot on, so good job there.

 

I didn't dig the dead Templar on the base, but that's just me. ;)

tyvm Honda tis awesome to get praise from your self your Templars are both an inspiration and a source of agony to me hehe

the yellow was a pain in the..... but yeah thinned the base coat of yriel yellow with vallejo air brush thinner (prolly not the best stuff hehe) added some retarder medium to around the consistency of milk (read it in a guide on here) 2/3 coats then washed with sepia finaly dry brushed with flash gits, but i agree it does seem thick in parts n im at a loss as to why.... maybe auto primer isnt the way to go.... derp

Ohh n as for our fallen brother his sacrifice gets avenged 10 fold on my Templar dread base im working on right now :)

Update... "the only good Iron Warrior....." is a dead Iron Warrior :) did some work on the bad guys for my Sigi centre piece Night Lords are my 40 "bad guys" so figured for 30k I'd take on our other less then favorate cousins :) still heavy WIP but any n all C&C welcome

well its finished.... started out as a centre piece to show of my Sigismund stand in and turns out im (in my opinion) a lot better at painting IW then IF hehe and these guys were a lot more enjoyable to paint also :( woe is me

ello all!!!! been a while since i've posted anything here have been working away for the last few months so hobby has taken a back seat.

Alas in my absence my inspiration (and talent) for painting yellow has up and disappeared...... So time for a new project for the time being untill FW release Sigi or Dorn himself to relight my loyal Fist fervour!!!

The question is what? with that in mind i've been mocking up some test mini's out of some left over MK3 i had lying around. The plan is to do 1 model from each of the legions which im interested in pursuing mainly to see which i enjoy the most..... also to see which if any im any good at

well made some progress on the test models last night the night lord is nearly there just need to finish his pad (only doing 1 each for the test models as ill be buying moulded 1z for the legion i pick) need to get some new GS when my local GWS opens tomorrow for some suitably grim "trophies" and also not sure if ill keep the head or just use a stock MK3 helm

slight update, progress has been slow this week due to work gettin in the way of my free time :( but i have least got a lil bit done.

 

The World Eater and Death Guard are primed and mostly base coated 

 

And the Night Lord is getting there just the metal on the shoulder guards to do, add some battle damage/weathering and add some suitably VIII legion "trophies" once i get some GS today and possibly some OSL on the jump pack if im feeling brave enough so heres the pics
