  2. Im a long time lurker of ye olde Bolter and Chainsword and several years ago finally got on board and started posting and making many great friends in the community and participating in every event I could. Rite around the turn of 8th and the beginning of the new age of GW things in my personal life got hectic and being a man of many hobbies I ended up shelving my projects and slipping into the warp to pursue one of my other passions blacksmithing which I definitely am still pursuing but i've started to get the hobby itch back and decided to get back to it converting and painting and such. Unfortunately the image hosting site I used turned out to have an expiration date and all my old posts are now lacking photos. Looks like it's time for a fresh start. Previously I focused primarily on my beloved salamanders and will still feature them quite heavily but it's time I branch out as i've really come to appreciate the background of many other chapters both loyalist and traitors thanks to the astonishing works of the writers over at black library and many of the Frater here. My plan currently is to convert up some fresh characters and finish up some I left mid project. This thread will likely be extremely varied because since I don't really play I model what i want to model that day not what i need to finish a unit. ++Planned Loyalists++ -Salamanders -Space Wolves -Iron Hands -Raven Guard -Carcharodons -Custodes -Deathwatch -Imperial Knights -Astra Militarum ++Planned Traitors++ -Death Guard -World Eaters -Emperors Children -Thousand Sons -Night Lords -Traitor Guard -Traitor Knights and Mechanicus ++Xenos++ -Ork -Tau -Tyranid ++Adeptus Titanicus++ (As of yet undecided) Loyalist Forgeworld (As of yet undecided) Traitor Forgeworld ++Also++ -Alpha Legion -Maybe eventually some of the Necromunda gangs
  3. Working on a fully magnetized dark angels legion support squad, have them set up with flamers but interested in having an alternative Plasma gun/Plasma repeater setup. My first attempt was less then successful, using a Shapeways "Plasma reaper shotgun" from white wyvern designs, which lacked detail/smoothness when primed (I had previously scrubbed them down in soapy water, it was not enough alas stripping them resulted in some sort of chemical leeching effect them left a bizarre white film, my attempts to get off have been less the successful. Any ideas on how to represent the plasma repeaters? The people I game with are rule of cool type people so it does not necessary have to be GW/Forgeworld product (state side in my experience outside of GW stores and events, rule of cool is law)
  4. Hello all! I hope all is well and that a few good souls (corrupted by the Dark Gods of course) will be able to give me some feedback on my list. The idea behind the list is to re-create Zardu-Layak's host. Zardu-Layak is a character that I love. I like him because of him becoming an ambitious Diabolist but also because he was tied to the Ashen Circle and Gal'Vorbak. Plus the sculpt with his blade slaves is super sexy. I've designed the list imagined a static gun line in the back to pummel the loyalists by artillery and air fire while a punchy force rushes towards the enemy to educate them on the Primordial Truth. Also, I will have Zardu summon a Deamon Prince one day The roles are as followed: - The veterans hang out with the Apothecary and try to hunt down high value targets and vehicles, - The Gal'Vorbaks hop in the Spartan with the Chaplain to get close and intimate with the enemy's Death Star, - The Ashen Circles and the Tacticals rushes objectives, - The tank, dreadnoughts and Fireraptor shoot from the back, - Zardu and the Chaplain do their magical shenanigans Anyways, here is the list. Let me know your thoughts and thanks again! ++ Crusade (Legiones Astartes: Age of Darkness Army List) [2959pts] ++ + HQ + Chaplain [112pts]: Artificer Armour, Bolt Pistol, Bolter, Chainsword or Combat Blade, Melta Bombs, On Foot, Refractor Field . 5. Hello all who visit my thread, I've been lurking on the forums for quite a long time, getting inspired by the big guys on here to maybe throw together a WiP thread of my own. I haven't been into the heresy game for that long, only coming up to three years now, and after a little lot of back and forth with what legion I want to play - I started with Luna wolves, tried WE once, then AL before again coming back to SoH in their pre-heresy format. I've also cheated on marines with some mechanicum which I sold of, and halfway planned a 3k solar auxila force before settling back into the comfy seat of the legion list. However the obvious problem was how to frame a pre-heresy army taking part in what is definitely a heresy game. So I sat down and thought of the outline for the fluff of my guys, I'll give you a dry outline but will expand and focus on the fluff around their eventual demise once I get to posting the individual members of the squads. I have around 2k painted up to a tabletop standard and I'm finishing up with custom transfers and starting to eventually weather stuff to - the photos are kind of a last memento before I ruin everything with weathering. (not that I'm good enough of a painter to actually have anything that could be ruined but I try my best and hopefully I'm slowly improving.) So the outline of the fluff before I get to the picture of my horrible paint jobs is that my guys are part of the 81st expeditionary fleet, they're a mixed bunch of old terrans who were disappointed in Horus after fighting alongside the Emperor a whole lot in the early crusade / solar war - so expect a lot of raptor imperialis around. They've also picked up some newbloods from around the galaxy, including good ol' cthonia, but because of their reluctance to accept their father, Horus sent all of them away, and they have mostly cruised around what would later become Segmentum Pacificus. So, for most of the marines barring the old terran guard they have never met Horus. But they have fought on the sides of several of the other legions and met other primarchs (in particular the blood angels and iron warriors), thinking themselves (rightfully) scorned sons. because of this most of the force while initially well equipped with MKIV armors have found themselves having to kitbash together suits from whatever functions. Relying on stockpiles of other patterns of armor to maintain as much MKIV hybrids as possible. the "battalion" (although such formations are considered unorthodox by SoH standards) would eventually met up with their genefather one last time - At Ullanor. This is where a majority of the marines would be annihilated, the survivors being merged into a company sized element to retain battle readiness, this company would eventually find itself rudely awoken to the heresy not at istvaan III, but at a later surprise attack by Loyalist Iron warriors out to prove their loyalty to Terra, Ironically seeing the destruction of a company of marines that would have (for the most part) stayed loyal to the emperor. But enough boring blathering about the background - I'm sure you guys would prefer it in the context of models, to set the bar high enough I'll start with my most recent (and thus prettiest imo) of the wolves, an apotechary! Apotechary Aenas Aenas was a son of a blacksmith from a world called Duratine which had submitted to unification without fighting, intimidated by the "Stone men" that fell from the sky clad in their furs and draped in the cold marble like armor. Aenas was part of the first and only muster on Duratine, netting the battalion 200 souls out of a whole planets population. During selection he was found adequate at any task set before him, mastering both the bolt and blade fast, yet never rising beyond the expected, if he is said to have one defining characteristic its his ability to stay calm under pressure - eventually he found his true calling as an apothecary, his steely nerves under fire ensuring that relatively few of those who fell into his care didn't live to see another day. One of the younger members of the apothecary he is semi permanently attached to the 3rd company, which in the 18th battalion is called "Tempest" - They are the boarding and drop assault vanguard of the 18th, consisting primarily of despoilers, breachers and terminators. He would eventually die at Ullanor, spared the horror of the heresy. A frequent tag along on any boarding party, where his calm nerves and strong friendship with breacher sergeant Faustus ensured that many ork kroozers fell onto the grounds of Ullanor. Both of them giving up their lives to take down the ork kroozer "Big Booma" - Saving the 18th's battle barge "Luna's Glow" from certain destruction.
  6. Angels come not in peace but in judgment... -- Attributed to master Zephon of the 3rd order upon meeting diplomats from the Akkad IV.... I've been interested in building a Heresy Era dark angels force for some time, and only got serious about it since January, My first goal is a ZM style force I've dubbed "the firewing" because of the vast number of flamers in the army.... So far I've completed (or are in the finial stages of competing) 18 Legion veteran tactical marines 10 Legion Support marines magnetized with flamers (soon to have Melta guns as well) 1 castraferrum dreadnought with inferno cannon, Siege wrecker and DCCW with a heavy flamer 2 Veteran Sergeants with power fists five man Heavy support squad with Heavy boaters Stuff to work on 2 Sergeants with Power axes 2 Sergeants with Power swords/calibanite blades Consul/Praetor with power axe and combs plasma (kitbashed dark vengeance captain) So it begins..... Writing fluff is part of the fun for me... I like to combine Historical, biblical and "Fanverse" sources to create a narrative Squad Beta-Omicron: Heavy support squad armed with Voss pattern Heavy bolters, attached to the rogue trader trader Abu Al-Hadi of Haifa. Deployed as part of a Battalion size force made up of variety of units assembled around a core of Veteran Terran Legionaries of the 3rd order who's units suffered 90+% casualties during the Rangdan Xenocides. In the closing days of the Great crusade the squad was deployed as part of a demi-company size force on the edges of segmentum pacificus as part of Al-Hadi's interest in exploring the halo stars. Still a work in progress but playable at this point, First squad largely assembled using a airbrush Assignment to rogue trader trader fleets was often used by legion high command to get rid of Legionaries deemed unstable or ill fitting for regular line duty. Such was Legionary Zawisza. Surviving legion records indicate he was born out of wedlock to a Calibanite woman and a visiting Solar-Auxilia officer from the Emperors Fleet upon discovering caliban. He was recruited out of obscurity and served with little distinction as a line Heavy support legionary until chance reunited him with his birth-father some 50 years years later on campaign, Now a legate-commander. Zawisza apparently snapped and broke both legate's legs... Later claiming it was a fair trade for leaving Zawisza and his mother without financial support back on caliban. He was promptly transferred from line duty and served in a variety of exploratory fleets, and rogue trader trader flotillas. Eventually being assigned to Al-Hadi flotilla in the closing days of the great crusade. Still have not done his eyes... I dread doing eyes.... Brother Erasmus, Neither Terran nor Calibanite but a second born son of venusian aristocrats who bent a knee to the emperor in the early days of the pacification of the sol system. Note the Green and Purple Heraldry associated with one the Venus orbital stations, apparently worn with permission given from legion command. I just got tired of painting green and black and spiced things up with purple... The Shoulder pads are from Master crafted miniatures... good stuff, especially good for replacing badly designed MKII shoulder pads designed to break on the edges... More stuff to come...

  8. So it looks like there will be a new set of 30k Transfers coming soon. The following is up on the FW site, but clicking on it goes to a dead page - so I can only assume someone jumped the gun on putting this picture and link up. Dark Angel, White Scar and Emperors Children transfers coming soon...
  9. So ladies and germs, wanting to get painting a whole army of marines I trawled the interweb and found the star phantoms, I like the scheme and what fluff I found, so without further ado here is my first phantom, albeit a dead one http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz184/Lamenterkyle/Mobile%20Uploads/2013-11-30223506_zps6c2a2943.jpg http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz184/Lamenterkyle/Mobile%20Uploads/2013-11-30223547_zps3ff597a4.jpg c+c most welcome
  10. AND NOW I PRESENT... 3D PRINTING So seeing as my post on the 3d printing got removed (too much of a sales post, so this tread will just be a wip and update tread), this is the new place for 3d printing, part creating, modelling idea sharing, and showing us (The GeekilyDo collective) your ideas for legion specific and BOTL specific armor, tanks (yes tanks!) and characters. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ So why this tread? Well, here is a tread were me and MikhaLeNoir will post our updates on this project. So what will this project be all about? We want to create the legion specific armor, shoulder pads, tanks and characters (inlcuding primarchs!). But we are gonna need some help with that! If we really want to create 3d models of warhammer models, we need details on information, details on every-tiny-freaking-thing. This counts for everything, we want this to be as perfect as possible. We might work outside of the BOTL verse too, but in this tread it will be mostly related or fully in character. So where did this all start? Well I have always been interested in 3d printing, and a month ago, the spending bug bit me. My money flew at the screen... And this happened: http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o11/Asdrubael108/Schermafbeelding%202016-06-29%20om%2013.14.32_zpsmq5rp65e.png This is a custom Robo 3d R1, it has an updated motherboard, better hexagon feeder, and better stepper motors... This might all sound very unfamiliar to you guys... But this is the quality it can print on: http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o11/Asdrubael108/Schermafbeelding%202016-06-29%20om%2013.14.05_zpsifwg7qcl.png This is not the quality suitable for miniatures, I printed a custom designed han solo blaster, but that is at 200 microns (0,2 mm) But now let's go to the real work: http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o11/Asdrubael108/Schermafbeelding%202016-06-29%20om%2013.15.11_zpsllrashhs.png A wanhao duplicator 6... Ohhhhh yes, 20 microns layers! 0,02mm (for your information, that's one FIFTH of the thickness of a piece of paper)! This is the quality GW prints their masters at! So when we print the legion specific stuff... It will be prototype quality. So what will I do to make this even better? After Mikhal had a GREAT idea, he gave me an idea... A 3d scanner! Yes! This scanner will be bought around the same time as the Wanhao, making for a scanning of sculpts and 3d redesigning of models! So now let's make this post a little bit more warhammery. This was a long post on the pans and the future (around november), so here is some warhammer for you guys! http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o11/Asdrubael108/20150921_120751_zpse2kqklbe.jpg So now, help us out! Give us all the info on legion and BOTL specidfic armor, weapons, characters, primarchs, tanks, titans and flyers... Litterly everything is wanted! Sketches are even better, and pm me if you want to ask specifical guestions (or ANY guestion really), or more on the cost side (I will not advertise MORE in this tread, as I don't want it removed again). Btw, legion specific shoulder pad designs would be the most welcome for now, but the rest is awesome too! Greetz, Alexander, you 3d printing specialist http://image.bolterandchainsword.com//public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.png
  11. Hail Brothers, I've decided to move my Plog/Blog efforts from another forum to here, or at least post them here also...the other forum I'm on seems to be...slow...here there seems to be much hobbying! Im a slow builder and even slower painter, or rather fast with both but with huge gaps in between so I'm going to repost my work thus far here and reveal my newest creations after the first post. I'm definitely 'feeling it' at the moment, even if simply to reach my target of having NO unpainted Emperors Children before buying anything else from FW....I feel a sicarran calling me! Without further to-do, I present my work thus far on the 7th Company, 13th Millennial, IIIrd legion. They form one of the major combatants in the "Battle for Grandia" narrative campaign between Brother Handro (who is hiding in the shadows) and myself; details to follow...one day....maybe... More pictures of my IIIrd legion progress are later in this plog, but for now, behold the fleet of the 13th Millennial! These took a while to find for reasonable cost!
