Kargos was an Apothecary of the elite 8th Assault Company as a part of Captain Khârn's command squad during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. He was known throughout the XII Legion by his pit-fighting name "Bloodspitter," earning the epithet for his habit of spitting blood into the eyes of his opponents, the oldest of tricks, when fighting in the World Eaters' fighting pits in the belly of their flagship Conqueror. When the World Eaters deemed those of other bloodlines worthy to fight within their fighting pits, Kargos was often paired with Ammit, a fierce Captain of the Blood Angels Legion, known as the "Flesh Tearer," for he fought with the same savagery and brutality as his hosts, a trait that would later be passed on to the Flesh Tearers Chapter he led after the Heresy. Few ever wished to come up against the "Bloodspitter" and the "Flesh Tearer." They were known for always fighting past first blood, third blood and into sanguis extremis (to the death). No dirty trick seemed beyond them, and every one of their matches was a death bout. Kargos was stalwart and ferocious warrior on the battlefields as well. He possessed a caustic wit and was never afraid to make light of a desperate situation through the use of dark humour, making his brothers laugh with great mirth.

That Mark Gibbons illustration is one of my favorites from the old days, and it's translating very well to your conversion though that fist might look better if it were turned over...

You are right, looks much better turned over. Thx!

Ha! Awesome! I'm glad you went with my suggestion. :D Amazing work, poom.

I recommend that you guys check out poom's log over on The Ammo Bunker: I am the Eightfold Path it has much more information in it.  Seriously poom, you should have that link in your sig as well.

Thanks for the link Mikhail, not only have I discovered the rest of Poom's awesome army, but an entire new hobby site for inspiration!

woah, ok I take back what I said in my previous post: I've just looked through your blog on ammo bunker (thanks for link Mikhail!) and your army is amazingly awesome. I love all the little conversions (as well as the big ones!!) - can't wait to see that titan finished. Hope you don't mind if I steal some of your ideas?! Keep up the good work!

Cheers guys!

how did you weather the destroyers???

how did you tint the windows of the lightning?

I painted the Destroyers like the rest but then added black pigment, dry directly from the pot to the marines. And then sealed it with purity seal spray, this will take a lot of the effect away but will seal the pigment to the model, so you can tuch it without rubbing it off again. Also I added a extra oilwash by mixing brownish oilcolor with white spirit to get a extra rusty look.

The windows on the lightning where painted with clear red, x-27 from tamiya. I painted two coats on the inside of the window.

Some might have seen this already on the ammobunker but here are some wip shots of the titan:

The armorplatings on the legs are not jet glued, as I want to paint them seperatly. I went for the chaos version of the warhound because I realy love the head, also the battledamage is awsome. Of course I want her to fit into the same timeperiod as the rest of the army, what is set around istvaan V. So I got rid of most of the eightpointed stars but left just enough chaos stuff to tease what is about to happen to the Legio Audax in the future.

The Ember Queen is armed with a Mega Bolter and of course a Ursus Claw:

The original plasmacoils will be painted in metal to represent magnetic coils that are used to accelerate the spear. I might add some fold out hooks an the speartip.. not sure jet.

For the base I want to create a little Diorama, the idea is, that the Titan shot a Raven Guard rhino with the Megabolter and while focusing on a new target somewere ahead, is casually about to squish it. Meanwhile the wounded survivors try to leave the rhino wreck.

I really like the drama you're creating with the base; however- I think the marine who is dragging his comrade seems a bit too eager almost to leave the poor s.o.b about to be smushed.  Is there a way you can move the head/torso so he's giving a glance backwards?  Know what I mean?

The scene should read:

"brother billy, we can't leave joe! he's our squad mate man!"

"there's no time! we gotta move!  I'm sorry man, but we gotta go"

Instead my mental picture is:

"meh, joe's a jerk- be grateful I'm saving you, quit yer blubberin *begins whistling*"
