The white is very simple, the oil colors are doing all the work skull white spray undercoat50:50 Water:Badab Black or Armypainter Dark Tone (the new GW wash, nuln oil does not work as good as those two)White drybrush Now just add decals and you are ready for the oils. For this I mix some brown and black oil color with a lot of white spirit and add it to the hole model. This oilwash will dry very slowly, so it gives you around 2 hours to manipulate the paint. You can use a clean brush to make streaks or remove paint where you don't want it.When the wash is almost dry I use some Oil based wheathering solutions from AK Interactive, which are basicly the same what I mixed, but with less thinner. I use "rust streaks" for a little rust effekt and "engine oil" to further darken some recess. Let it dry over night and paint some selected edges with skull white. Thats it Love Jeddek. Love the banner. Can't wait to see him painted up, I think you really captured the feel of a veteran World Eater. As an aside, do you intend on altering the FW Khârn's posing at all? The model looks really wonky as is and even with your awesome crest, I don't think it'll redeem the model unless some other changes are made. Well I am mostly ok whith the pose.. the bigger issue for me are the to much heroic scaled legs, they are way to massive compared to a normale Space Marine. It's really great to see you giving the characters from Betrayer actual representations for your army! Amazing! Regarding Khârn, man, the new model may be more detailed, but your old conversion is still awesome, precisely because it is based on both the 40k version of the character and that piece of Wayne England artwork at the same time. That said, I am quite certain that your finished "new" Khârn wiill blow us away, but the pose on the FW version is just a little messed up: Have you considered rotating the hand holding the pistol outwards, so the pistol is actually turned towards the oncoming enemy? I think that might make it at least a bit more believable. As for Jeddek, the model's already looking very cool! The scarred face is a far better match for him than for Khârn! While I understand your thoughts on the banner, however, I am just a sucker for cloth banners for a company, so I think I'd prefer an actual banner below the top, but that's just a matter of personal preference! Will you be doing a model for Skane at some point? Preferrably without a helmet? Keep up the amazing work! I think the arm on Khârn is more or less ok how it is. He is full into this rotating motion so I guess shooting something at the same time would be to much.. also, it would be difficult to re arange the arm, as it has this gladiator stlyed armor on. I would love to do Skane one day and I agree he must be bare headed for everyone to see his augumented throat. Next up will be Delvarus with some shipboarders tho. It would seem Yeddek woke up on the wrong leg that morning. Nice mini, that face (Khârn, right?) is really brutal. Yes the head is from Khârn, lovely details on that one. The banner choice is excellent - far more utilitarian than a large, flapping piece of fabric. Where did all the pieces for it come from? Can't wait to see the FW Khârn done up next to your custom model. I think this one fits size wise much better and also has no big ass skull attached to it. Still all just bluetacked...Also thinking about to add a spearhead (so it can be used as a weapon^^) and maybe a chain with some trophys on it. You are right the chaos plasma pistol looks better than the original, I think the plasma pistols are one of the few things made by FW that I dont like, they look too much like hairdriers. I like the old one alot too. But I think the conversion and paintjob did not age well, today I would do so many things different. In contrast to this relic from the unification wars he got a spiky backpack and shoulderguard. With the banner I am still unsecure, all is just blue-tacked at the moment. The idea was, as the World Eaters are influeced a lot from roman gladiators, that a roman styled banner would be fitting. What do you think?
