Deet
A little more work on the base. Coming along nicely. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xIpTSzxf5ZI/VJpSZTuOK9I/AAAAAAAAH1U/tq-D6vRJCxg/s1600/Base1.jpg Have a whole tutorial up on my blog for that base if anyone's curious. First part- sculpting- is up here and painting will be up in a couple of days. Also tried my hand at Chipping Medium with mixed results. This is the good bit post-chipping. A lot created a really awful cracked top coat and I may have to repaint. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mIiQ1DE9RnI/VJpSZeQSRJI/AAAAAAAAH1Q/t7FD_2NGv9s/s1600/Chipping.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288650-deets-grey-knights/page/2/#findComment-3899292 Share on other sites
Venator
The chipping effect looks awesome. What did you use to do it? I've tried using some of Mr Masking Sol Neo which had awesome reviews, but I couldn't get it to work as it just ruined the top coat. On a side note - I'm seriously tempted to copy your bases! Pearson73
That base is smashing! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288650-deets-grey-knights/page/2/#findComment-3901356 Share on other sites
Deet
I used the Mig chipping medium. It completely thrashed the majority of my top coats too. Cracks everywhere. I'm not sure if that's because I airbrushed it too thick? I may try it again and use a brush to put it on thin. The pieces here were the only clean ones. I ended up using most of the rest, but had to chip a lot to hide the cracks. I have a suspicion I could get the same effect without the medium and just using a stiff brush to wear through. Deet
Finished a review of my 2014. Here's a sneak peek. Amazing what you can accomplish in a year, even when you're a crazy slow painter. Full details on my blog in the sig below. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vg_s0SpDaNc/VLAHBd2CYFI/AAAAAAAAH90/52r-PDf5j0w/s1600/2014ReviewDeetSm.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288650-deets-grey-knights/page/2/#findComment-3915225 Share on other sites
Venator
I'm going to try some of the Mig medium I think. The Mr Masking Neo dries like rubber. Your year has definitely been more productive than mine. The difference in the two Fire Warriors is amazing! Deet
Finally finished off my Dreadknight. Lots of pics and the whole WIP on the blog. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YqfSMr2fYCE/VLLPc4YbrlI/AAAAAAAAH_s/khbyQonzTMY/s1600/Dreadknight-1sm.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-af25EmcE37Y/VLLPddwPZAI/AAAAAAAAH_w/tyOAXcTJP0E/s1600/Dreadknight-2sm.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qzFbZfyQSzU/VLLPd1NmRKI/AAAAAAAAH_8/IJx14t7jRzQ/s1600/Dreadknight-5sm.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sjy58gtL_L4/VLLPec0xh4I/AAAAAAAAIAE/z1jbRkaYyKI/s1600/Dreadknight-8sm.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288650-deets-grey-knights/page/2/#findComment-3926021 Share on other sites
Deet
Decided my poor GK didn't have nearly enough Psychic dice (that's a joke). Really, I bought a bunch of Inquisition stuff before the new codex and now that it's separate, I figure it can help pad out some of my other armies. First up- some modded IG Psykers. Each one got a little bit of Green Stuff mods. I'm still getting used to GS so I'm taking it easy, but figured these needed to have something different from the stock metal figs. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rnTT8BtYfMM/VOtxNkPZuNI/AAAAAAAAMUg/HeWmjNf1fEw/s1600/Psykers-11.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ISThe5FzAXU/VOtxNndYkkI/AAAAAAAAMUc/rGPiTvSq2Gc/s1600/Psykers-14.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288650-deets-grey-knights/page/2/#findComment-3959823 Share on other sites
