Primarch 1 on 1 tabletop tournament: How do they stack up?

Fulgrim seems to be a bit of a let down :( His main use seems to be duelling other primarchs and it seems he isnt even too good at that. Emperors children seem to get a bit of a raw deal in the new books. Phoenix guard terms are poor, palatine blades are not great, fulgrim is a let down and the legion trait is a bit dull. I'm gutted as a big EC fan

So Mortarion vs. Vulkan, Mortarion stands a chance of losing... What about Mortarion vs. all of the less durable Primarchs? He's supposed to be this bad ass Primarch that no one really talks about, but I'm still extremely skeptical with that whole Initiative 1. Man, that angers me...

Sigismund vs anyone except Primarchs or Salamander Praetor is one-sided fight in favor of Sigismund. Instant Death, Just AP2 sword and Eternal Warrior would be enough to win almost any fight, but forcing his enemy to re-roll succesful invulnerable save and high initiative makes him the best non-primarch duelist so far.

Sigismund will slaughter Sevatar. Sevatar doesn't have Eternal Warrior, while Sigismund does.

Good point, he has instant death and eternal warrior...lol wow

Well, at least the loyalists have one hardcore fighter

I disagree, Maru Skara is awesome, almost as awesome as when Sons of Horus have Warmaster himself on a bettlefield. Fulgrim wouldn't beat Vulkan, Horus or Ferrus Manus, but I think he wins against Angron, Kurze, Dorn and Corax.

What's the match up for Alpharius with his AP1 Spear?

I know his main infamous match up was with Guilliman who we know nothing about, but what about other Primarchs? Not neccessarily the combat monsters though, someone like Angron, Fulgrim, Horus would probably tear the baby primarch apart.

Also how does Perturabo stand up, epsecially to Dorn???

I believe Perturabo will win. He causes 0.66 wounds per turn, while Dorn causes 0.5 per turn. This is with Forgebreaker. Also, Dorn cost 385 points, while Perturabo costs 480, so swings and roundabouts. I haven't factored in Blind, as..eh, it will swing things in Perturabo's favour even more.

I would like to see the Fulgrim Vs The Khan (when they make him). according to the fluff that would be a good fight.

Also as a DA fanboy I'm worried that they will make the Lion mediocre.

Mortarion vs. the Khan will be interesting too

I think that in Scars, it was portrayed as 50/50 when it came down to the exchange on Prospero. That final exchange however never actually happened because both these primarchs had to survive.

Actually, I've played through the Fulgrim/Ferrus duel about a billion times (both with and without Forgebreaker on Ferrus) and in all honesty, it can really go either way, its all in the dice. There have been some where Ferrus crunched the traitor, but others where Fulgrim has indeed lopped off Ferrus' head.

As for Fulgrim vs Vulkan, you are right, Vulkan totally destroys him, just levels him outright.

I've actually played through almost all the fights using Konrad Curze (being a Night Lord player I wanted to see how good he was) and in vacuum fights he was able to beat Fulgrim, Mortarion, Ferrus, AND HORUS. This doesnt always happen, he barely choked out the last victory while he was bleeding to death, but still, its possible!sweat.gif

Well if the books are anything to go by, Curze is a combat master, always being able to disappear from the position he should be in. See Unremembered Empire.

That is another thing, Curze has Hit and Run, so if you get in a tight spot you can hop him out. I did this once during a slug out with Ferrus that was going badly, and got to jump in and kill most of a tac squad and Autek Morr while Ferrus got caught up in my termies

It is also silly he can't kill a Contemptor. His scythe should S8 Master Crafted, Instant Death, Armourbane. Drop Sunder. Then, you have a Primary that can actually deal with vehicles and heavy infantry.

You do realize that it wouldnt be that difficult for him to kill a Contemptor right? He just happens to have a wonderful S 8 pistol called the Lantern that happens to re-roll armor pen. Shoot a contemptor with that and get it imobilized and then he can hack away at the back armor, or better yet, dont waste your Primarch's precious game time on something he cant kill in one turnwink.png

Which primarchs did you play Curze against?

What weapon was Horus using?

Anything is possible. If a sergeant with a powerfist rolls straight sixes and Curze rolls nothing but ones, Curze is gonna lose eventually. So, we can really only talk about the statistically expected outcome. They're all entirely ABLE to beat each other with the right dice rolls. The question is, what happens with -average- dice rolls?
