PaintMyBits
@ dorns fist - yes it was airbrushed. i usually shy from airbrushed OSL but im not so competent at that scale with it. and the mud effects were done by loading a brush up with pigment mix and the blasting an empty airbrush at the tank with the brush in between. im making a tutorial for it at the moment and illl link it when its done Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289817-ultramarines-2nd-company/page/3/#findComment-3686052 Share on other sites
Grizzly_bear
Any chance at some point you might be able give me or us on here a little run down on the head lights? PaintMyBits
Sure. i took pics of all the weathering including chipping, oil streaking and the pigments. so they will go up first and then for the head lights. GastosRhor
I was looking for tutorials showing how to paint weathering :) Thank you and a question: will it work on purple colour? How can I do some battle marks and make vehicles look like yours? PaintMyBits
Yes noisemarine it will work with purple. Just literally substitute in your palette. So for the scratches take the lightest purple mix you use and add white so its a little lighter. Just like the blue i have used, calgar blue and white at a 1:1 ratio being my lightest mix. My chipping colour was 2:1 calgar blue and white. But experiment, that will yeild the best results finding something your comfortable doing and what you like. BrotherCaptainArkhan
There are a tiny handful of threads on the B&C that make me toy with the ideal of a small Ultramarines force. This is most definitely one of them. I love these guys. PaintMyBits
Thanks guys. I batch paint each squad in about a week. That's a little time every evening after work so roughly 10-12 hours per squad I reckon. karden00
Great work so far! Your attention to detail is inspirational. Can I ask, where did you get magnets that small? I get my rare earth magnets from Lee Valley, but they are certainly not small enough to be used in the arms of space marines! Also, do you have any particular advice when it comes to getting the magnet into his arm? Looks like you've done some mighty careful pin vicing, but any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Cheers mate Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289817-ultramarines-2nd-company/page/3/#findComment-3758539 Share on other sites
PaintMyBits
i got my magnets here http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Spider-Magnets the gun/wrist magnets are 2 x 1 mm magnets and a 2mm drill bit is used. The best advise i can give is to take it slow and use a bradle or the point of your scalpel to score a centre mark before you drill to keep the bit where you want it when you start. Dosjetka
Aye, the painting and weathering are top-notch. And I really like the use of the new Storm Trooper heads on the Scouts.
