Really digging the metallic Alpha's! Personally, I have always liked the matted version because I always thought it spoke to the "stealth" fluff (as stealthy as an 8ft 2 ton dude can be).

Keep up the work man I really like where this is going and it's always good to see more Alpha Legion! :biggrin.:

thanks guys! i was really struggling for a while? do yall prefer the darker scheme(the guy with the crest) or the lighter greener blue?

Also i am having trouble with drakenhoff nightshae...i used it on the darker guy, and i liked it but it still looked muddy in some areas and i diluted it 50/50

any hints?

I got some pretty good results with Alclad Gloss Black Primer, Alclad Chrome, Testor's Model Masters Teal, Tamiya Clear Blue just all over. No mixing, no shading, nothing complex. Shot it all through the GW spraygun even though that thing is garbage & barely worked.

Haha appropriately I'm having trouble catching the color properly. Sometimes it looks Very Green and sometimes it looks Very Blue. I'll try to get something decent when I get home.

I have been intrigued by this conversation and thus inspired to have a go using the forge world method only simplifying it.

Firstly I do not own an airbrush or have the funds to do so. Luckily Tamiya clear blue and green is available in spray form and for the $11AU is a drop in the ocean compared to buying a decent airbrush.

Here is what I did:

1. Dry brush Leadbelcher

2. Dry brush Chainmail

3. Tamiya Clear Green (from the pot applied to only raised areas, it dries very quickly so thinning may be beneficial)

4. Tamiya Clear Blue spray ( two light coats allowing at least an hour between the two)

5. Asurmen Blue washed all over

Needs some matt varnish but is obviously not finished.

Here. I tried taking this picture inside both inside & outside and this is the closest I can get to how it actually looks. I swear he's greener than that. Might try some coelia greenshade between the teal & clear blue or just thinned clear green or something. I swear half the fun with PH Alphas is trying to figure out how best to do the colors.

Has anyone tried using iridescent paints for the alpha legion scheme? Is that even possible? because having a  paint that changes colors depending on which angle you look at it from would be very fitting for the Alpha Legion. Although it'd have to focus more on the Blue/Green side of things.

@ recon it's a lot of trial and error. And a lot of frustration

I used testtors silver as a base,

2 light coats of thinned tamiya clear green at. 45 degree angle from above

Next I used several coats of thinned tamiya Clear blue from from below the model at an upward angel.

Used a lighter coat of tamiya clear blue over the entire model except on certain parts to let the green show through.

Light wash of thinned Guilliman blue to fill in gaps and bring out the blue

Next a light wash of thinned biel tan green

Another thinn coat of tamiya clear blue sporadically over the model

Last a thinned wash of nul oil

And then a very light drybrush of tarnished steel

i really like yours, I'm thinking about doing a more blue like i did with my sergeant for all the vets and officers. yours looks great

Hey betrayer, not knocking the other guy, but yours look way better IMO. Don't second guess your work when you see someone else's work. I've been quietly following your progress and feel its finally time to sound off.

You've come along way with your scheme, to the point where it's actually awesome. Don't go changing it just coz Jo blo does something different. Stick to your guns brother.

Your alpha legion look ace as is.
