Anvilarium
There seems to be a distinct lack of modelling options out there for Cyber-Familiars in the Heresy era. Cyber-Cherubs are more of a 41st Millenium thing, and the only other models I can think of that are suitable for Cyber-Familiars are: Servo-Skull Cyber-Raven Double-Headed Cyber-Eagle All of which have been done to death IMHO. I guess Dark Angels players could maybe use Watchers In the Dark, and Space Wolves players could use Wolves. Has anyone been using something different from the above options to represent Cyber-Familiars? Nehekhare
if iron warriors could take it, it had to be a miniaturized warhound scout titan. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290501-cyber-familiars-what-do-you-use/#findComment-3671958 Share on other sites
Anvilarium
Techmarines from any Legion can take them. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290501-cyber-familiars-what-do-you-use/#findComment-3671983 Share on other sites
Dragonkin Arenis
The sad thing is, the three options you've listed would suit any Legion. Gold-dipped servo skulls for the Sons of Horus, eagles/ravens/birds of prey for the Scars, Raven Guard, Fists, Ultras, etc. but I can see the Word Bearers using cyber-cherubim before their betrayal, after which daemons are order of the day. Cyber-Mastiff, perhaps? That'd suit the World Eaters quite well, and it'd be between that or a "practical" servo skull for the Death Guard (the Scions one, for example). But the Emperor's Children would probably have intricately-crafted, non-practical "puppet-droids" or something of the like; something to appeal to their love of beauty and perfection, like a clockwork droid. The other alternative is to model a Remembrancer who is accompanying the Techmarine in question, a weapons-bearer carrying the Techmarine's firearm whilst he works, or even simply a human mechanic with an oversized wrench. Hyaenidae
Cyber-hounds and cyber-mastiffs for my Iron Warriors. Big friggin' robo-dogs for trench clearing sounds like all sorts of fun. Astartes-ULTRA
Cyber-hounds and cyber-mastiffs for my Iron Warriors. Big friggin' robo-dogs for trench clearing sounds like all sorts of fun. That suggestion is so awesome you sir have officially won the internet I would probably suggest the following for the legions: Dark Angels: Watchers in the dark, Cyber lion (in honour of the primarch) Emperors Children: A Pheonix of natural or man made description springs to mind (again in honour of the primarch), rememberancers Iron Warriors: Cyber hounds as mentioned above, or even small trench scurrying cyber rats (rats were rife in trenches during WW1) White Scars: Cyber horse Space Wolves: Fenrisian wolf Imperial Fists: Cyber hound or serfs most likely Night Lords: Bats, bat-winged skulls Blood Angels: Cherubs, rememberancers Iron Hands: servitors and machine cult serfs World Eaters: Cyber tigers (gladiator theme), hounds and things like that. Ultramarines: Cyber eagle, rememberancers Death Guard: Difficult to say really, probably serfs or rememberancers. Thousand Sons: Scarabs, cyber cat (keeping the eqyptian them going) Sons of Horus: Rememberancers Word Bearers: serfs carrying books and luggage Salamanders: big nasty lizards Raven Guard: Cyber raven Alpha Legion: snakes, cyber hydra (use imagination for this one) Just my two or three cents Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290501-cyber-familiars-what-do-you-use/#findComment-3672591 Share on other sites
Iron Hands Fanatic
For your X Legionaries, a cool idea I had is one of the arco-flagellant models, with the whips removed - a Praestes-Servitor ceded from the Mechanicum, or from the Legion's own automata cohorts Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290501-cyber-familiars-what-do-you-use/#findComment-3672700 Share on other sites
depthcharge12
I think that for the dark angels, one of the little angel statues with the pedestal removed would look cool. Kind of like an "Angel watching over your shoulder" kind of thing. Sorry for all the kind of's. I'm from the Midwest dontcha know? I do like the watchers idea though,MIT sounds pretty cool. Navar
For the Iron Hands I like the idea of Servitors (I know I have several of them just sitting about) but I think that they are too big. I don't have a suggestion, and I LOVE the ideas in this thread. I just can't think of something that would be good for my heresy force (and for the Iron Hands I think it is worse because IIRC every character has the option to take one.) SW1
I'm converting mine from animals mainly but will do some skulls as well. Here's my first one: http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps8fbda108.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps59e6b711.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps328ad080.jpg It's an old warmaster model with the rider removed. ElectricPaladin
Necroed because of a recent invention of mine that I'm quite proud of: http://41.media.tumblr.com/8b8157cc2a639f39ffdd6967c7456c09/tumblr_nxyq8mnNS81rgb5qno4_1280.jpg Mostly skink, some cyber-skull, a techmarine bit, and a cybernetic eye made out of a scout sniper scope. I gave it a "flamer" because that way it can do double-duty as a whatever-they-call-servitors.
