Tiger9gamer
So I have two lists I think might be good, both using the Decapitating Strike RoW as the basis for all the help it brings. The first one is straight marines, the Second has Mechanicus allies. First lists I think! List 1: Ravenguard only, 2,000 points WarLord: Praetorian (artificer armor, Paragon blade, Iron Halo, Volkite Charger) Centurion: Librarian (lvl 2, Artificer armor, Infravisor) -Divination Troop 1: Legion Tactical squad (15 marines, Nuncio-vox, Voxellia, extra CCW weapon, artificer armor) Troop 2: Legion Tactical squad (15 marines, Nuncio-vox, Voxellia, extra CCW weapon, artificer armor) Troop 3: Legion Tactical squad (15 marines, Voxellia, extra CCW weapon, Artificer armor) Elite 1: Apothecaries (x2, artificer armor and Auxery scanner) Elite 2: Thud Gun Rapier Elite 3: Thud Gun Rapier F/A 1: Javelin Squadron (x3 speeders) F/A 2: Javelin Squadron (x2 speeders) H/S: Legion Support squad (x8 marines, Artificer armor, Plasma Cannons, Auxpery Senser) ___ the gameplan is to have the Legion squads Infiltrate up close to the enemy or overload one side with 30 marines, Taking hold of objectives and Being a pain to remove. Warlord will go with them, leading the charge! Librarian stays with the Support squad in a tower or something, Hopefully getting ignores cover for all the plasma they are dishing out. Javelins try to take out armor with missile launchers. If the 3rd legion squad is too much/useless, they can be replaced with a veteran squad like so: Legion Veteran Squad (x10 marines, x2 Melta/Plasma, Combi, Drop pod) for about the same amount of points, and can be given tank hunter or Snipers depending on the target. Only 15 points more too!) __________________________ List 2: Mechanicus allies WarLord: Praetorian (artificer armor, Paragon blade, Iron Halo, Volkite Charger) Centurion: Librarian (lvl 2, Artificer armor, Infravisor) -Divination Troop 1: Legion Tactical squad (15 marines, Nuncio-vox, Voxellia, extra CCW weapon, artificer armor) Troop 2: Legion Tactical squad (15 marines, Nuncio-vox, Voxellia, extra CCW weapon, artificer armor) Elite 1: Apothecaries (x2, artificer armor and Auxery scanner) Elite 2: Thud Gun Rapier F/A 2: Javelin Squadron (x2 speeders) H/S: Legion Support squad (x8 marines, Artificer armor, Plasma Cannons, Auxpery Senser) Allies: HQ: Magos Prime (Conversion beamer) Troop 1: Thralls (15, Pure Thought) Troop 2: Tralls (12, pure thought) H/S: Krios w/ Pulse Fusil (squadron of 2) _____________________________________ Much is the same, but I replaced one javelin squadron, One Rapier and 1 Troop squad for the Mechanicus. The Krios are there for anti-tank/everything while the rest plays out quite the same. Not a lot of marines, but a lot of thralls and high strength shooting. _____________________________________________________________________ Thoughts? Tiger9gamer
I have a new one, too! this one has a lot more guys and some special, fun units. plus anti-air! HQ: Strike Captain Alvarex Maun (camoline HQ: Centurion Siege Master (artificer armor, Camoline) Troop 1: Legion Tactical squad (15 marines, Voxellia, extra CCW weapon, artificer armor, Camoline) Troop 2: Legion Tactical squad (15 marines, Voxellia, extra CCW weapon, artificer armor, Camoline) Troop 3: Legion Support Squad (10 marines, Volkite Claviers, Artificer armor, Camoline) Elite 1: Apothecary Detachment -Apoth for troop 1 (artificer armor) -Apoth for troop 2 -Apoth for troop 3 (Artificer armor, Augury Scanner) Elite 2: Mortis Dread (x2 lascannons) Elite 3: Thud gun Rapier F/A 1: Javelin speeder squadron (x2 speeders) F/A 2: Javelin speeder squadron (x2 speeders) H/S only: Heavy support squad (x10 autocannons (or missile launchers), Artificer armor, infravisor/Augery scanner) -Siege Master Joins unit So basically this list relies on infiltrate and stealth. The Support squad gets a good line of fire and rains down hell with lots of autocannon shots that have tank hunter, while troop 3 hits things from ruins and hopefully on another objective. Tactical squads overload a flank and focus on killing troops and securing objectives, adding a lot of bodies on one side. The speeders fly around to hit targets and bring them down. How does it look now? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290901-2000-points-ravenguard-decapitating-strike/#findComment-3688877 Share on other sites
Sevatar
Good, but what role does Alvarex have? You are not using drop pods in great numbers. I assume your Javelins are DS assassination units - nice. If you are aiming for a turn one alpha strike why not use Alvarex to pod in melts squads? Also, Deathstorms are surprisingly good, 5 blasts in the heart of a deployment zone is darn effective in troops. Tiger9gamer
I'm using him because he's cheaper than what I usually build and can (i assume) force the other player to re-roll failed steal the initative rolls. Other than that... good question! Tiger9gamer
replacement preatorian would be: Preatorian: artificer armor, Camoline, Paragon blade, iron halo ten points more and doesn't offer so many buffs, but is a bettter CCW character I think Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/290901-2000-points-ravenguard-decapitating-strike/#findComment-3693900 Share on other sites
