Sox's ETL III Thread - Final Group Pics Page 5

Thanks! It was really easy. All you need is a sharp blade on your modelling knife. The way the kit was designed, half of his head is attached to the body. you basically are adding his face and big pointy cap to it. Cut that half the head off and you can attach any head.

Updates for Second Vow:

Banner and Master of Ordnance are complete, aside from basing and minor touch ups. Company Commander and HWT are 99% done aside from the crests and emblems. Commissar and Vox yet to be complete but base coated smile.png

These are fun to paint!

Still a few odds and ends to do on each, but will be done soon.

To those following along, I have my HQ represented by the beret and darker grey material for their uniform. Just to make their rank stand out a bit more. Only exception is the Regimental Officers who will have helmets or other form of headgear.

C and C always appreciated!

I say go for freehand on the banner. Getting a decal to curve with the embossed parchment might be tough,....and freehand practice is always good (not to mention the feeling of satisfaction when you pull it off well!).

If you use MicroSol(if you're in the future of the USA), it can make decals conform to almost any surface. If you're willing to give that a shot, it would probably produce the best results for you.

Both Kier and BCK have good points, but given sox is from Britain the mythical MicroSol might be hard to find. As for the models they look brilliant, I demand more close up shots! Red berets are of course the best kind of berets and they go great with your colour scheme... I think I might change my list of "reasons to get a Scion box" to "reasons not to get a Scion box" as it'll be shorter! Keep it up sox you're doing the guard proud :D

We've been ridiculing GW's new "Pirate Captain" Commissars at the local store. My Guard don't run with them, but I'd probably steal your idea for him if I did one day!

/Edit/

Oh hey, a second page!

Loving the HWT team and your Commander looks borderline pimpin' with that cane.

Just thought there's always the option of using a fine pen to scribble on a model, as long as it'll mark it properly :) My Guard don't use Commissars but the previous metal models are so good I had to get them :) The swagger stick is part of the Cadian Command Squad kit, so you can get your commander to swagger as much as you like Juan :D

Hmm. I like the sound of a swagger stick. Might need to add it to my Commissar equipment for when you ragamuffins get out of line or a Marine needs to learn his place... :P

Thanks for the kind words! I find these models are so much fun to assemble and paint. biggrin.png I'm mad at myself for not starting with guard years ago. Also, the Scions box set is really cool. Good bits for veterans, and those Beret heads are the bomb!

I plan to make Kell and Creed from my leftovers... msn-wink.gif

So vow 2 is complete:

I need your opinions on vow 3. The one with the most votes will be what I do:

1. Leman Russ Battle Tank with Battle Cannon, with 3 Heavy Bolters

2. Custom Creed and Kell

3. 2 Chimeras

4. Heavy Weapons Team with Mortar

5. Platoon Command Squad

thanks for your votes!
