Sox's ETL III Thread - Final Group Pics Page 5

Recommended Posts

Expect them late next month, as I'm still painting my through my standard dude and made a promise to get them done before Sending In The Next Wave. I've planned a Russ Demolisher, Chimera + 10 Dudes pack, and a Command Squad. That way I can start running Platoons rather than Veterans, and get a decent number of tanks on the table.

I'm also attending Comicon next month with friends, and so in the hierarchy of nerd expenditure, it places itself slightly higher in order to make sure I can actually afford London. :S

Aside from the targeting lenses on the turret, and maybe one more wash on the bottom of the treads and plough, I declare this baby done!

ETL III Vow 3 complete!

For my first tank model, I think it went pretty good! I had lots of fun!

Now, do I dare a 4th vow?

Very nice work, and speedy! Good weathering too.

If I may make some suggestions it would be to dirty up the tracks and the hull around the tracks. Personally I like his Typhus Corrosion to add texture then going over those areas with weathering powders (as they latch onto the Corrosion texture wonderfully).

Some decals, if you dare (though best to gloss varnish the area first, then use Lamian Medium to take off the gloss after putting down the decal. A couple of coats, usually).

If you're confident you can get another vow done by the 1st of August then go for it!

Thanks for the advice on the track weathering... I was hoping someone would make the suggestion. I have a few pots of the Corrosion, and will apply soon. Will also apply the decals then too. Being new to painting tanks, I appreciate the advice!

Basically, it took only a week to do this, which isn't bad at all!

The camo is blended together rather nicely. Usually you see such sharp edges but your work transitions rather well between the two colors. Make sure to gloss the area first for decals. I can't count how many times I've forgotten to do this.

She's looking very pretty and factory fresh, excellent work on the camo!

Now roll her through some mud, Guardsman! The Emperor likes his tanks battle-worn and venerable!

It will be done! (also I think it loses it's grittiness in the pics). I do plan to touch up all my ETL goodies when the time comes. I still need to apply the decals to the very first squad I did.

Agreed, some fine tanking there. As such surely you can muster another tank before the ETL ends? Especially after you've done such a grand job on this one biggrin.png

Muster I shall!

Vow 4: 2 Chimera Transports, each with a dozer blade (I love these things). One has Multi-Laser and Heavy Flamer the other 2 Heavy Bolters. Total of 140 points. None of the weapons are glued on and can be switched out easily (ie magnets). I will have this vow complete by August 1, or else, etc, blah, blah, blah, fire, brimstone and wrath.
