Howdy Bolter and chainsword fans,

This is the ongoing saga of the Gordium Campaign and like the Gordian Knot before it requires a true Heroic effort to untangle the impenetrable weave of Chaos.

This tale follows the armies of the Dark Angels as they endure the evil of the galaxy while trying to right the wrongs of ancient treason. Follow the whole tale of the Cogitators of Gordium:, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

Assault on Ix: Our hero's decode the second cogitator, and learn of a new deadly and dangerous world where their quarry is hiding. Will they track him down before he escapes?

Hammerfall on Ix: Our hero's step once more onto the planet and at the critical ground of Atlas Pass, stand toe-to-toe with Koros, the IronClaw!

*NEW*(7/16/14) Battle at Worlds End: Sammael and his hunting party have reached the bridge into the Tunguska, far to the south of forward operating base Relentless the Ravenwing track their prey, but when the trail turns cold, Sammael and his ravenwing will learn something that will send a shiver up the spine of the Inner Circle...

I think what hurt me the most was a couple things

1.) Lack of familiarity with the opponent and his capabilities. That list was extremely fast and though I knew that going in, I didn't really know that his entire army had shrouding. Since he had so many demons i thought they were all from the same codex, but some were from the CSM codex which i can get preferred enemy against.

2.) The other problem was as you said i got too close. I should have kept the command squad back and tried to get the attack squads to fire at range. We rolled night fight after I had already moved. So at that point I knew that I would have to survive his counter charge with Hit and run. When that failed i was in deep trouble.

3.) Nurgle stuff gets to T5 and is almost always multi wound so I should have directed the typhoon missles at the rad grenade targets to try for instant death if any got through. That would have helped alot.

4.) Terrain - we set up terrain so it would be cinematic. It sort of limited my ability to move effectively since i was leery of risking dangerous terrain rolls on the center ice. I also couldn't go up and down levels with the bikes, as in from ground to the top of the bridge so it became doubly hard to move.

5.) Deployment - I hampered my self with my deployment the typhoons should have all been central so that they could gain the center of the field in order to cover the priority targets with fire. The Dread positioning could have worked but wasn't really given a chance.
