Things from 30k you'd like to see in 40k

I'm sure a lot of HH players here would love to see quite a few things "imported" from the 30k era to the 40k era.  I'd like to hear what others on this forum would like to see in that vein.  Here are a couple of things from the HH era I'd personally like to see "imported" into 40k.

  • Erebus and Kor Phaeron (of course!).
  • Certain older weaponry types like the Volkite family of weapons and the Archaeotech pistols.
  • Legion rules for the traitor legions, updated for the 40k ruleset.  The Legion rules for loyalist legions created for the HH era were at their core "boosted" versions of their "Chapter Tactics" in 40k, so this has been done before, just in reverse.

Who else would like to see things from this era "imported" into 40k?

Nothin'.

Tech is backwards in 40k for a reason. Mad Max meets Heinlein's Starship Troopers meets the Dark Ages.

30k is the Golden Age of reason and technology. Advanced tech should be expected.

Hear, hear!

In the Great Crusade, the flame of humanity was stoked into a roaring fire that spread across the universe, sweeping all before it. Powered by a technological revolution brought about by a demi-god, it was possibly the greatest era that mankind had ever known. We were the apex predator, destroying anything that did not cower before us in surrender or supplication.

Nothing could stop us, except for ourselves, and we fell far from that great height we had attained. The progress of civilization froze and even began to backslide in most areas. Humanity was a ghost of itself, repeating the same motions by rote and not true learning. Imagination, free thought, and even freedom itself became dangerous outlets for the Warp to make its way into our world. To survive, we imprisoned ourselves behind walls of fear, hatred, and ignorance.

Ten thousand years later, that roaring fire is now little more than a candle flame guttering in the winds of the Warp, and it cannot hold out forever.

The weapons of the Great Crusade now lost to humanity in the present day of 40k should stay buried in the past as little more than myths and legends.

And honestly, I really don't believe humanity would have survived for ten thousand years after the Horus Heresy. That is far too much time with far too many foes, internal and external, for us not to do something stupid and bring an end to our species. Thy way they describe how everything is supposed to work, I would have given humanity no more than a few centuries to kill itself off as each star system erupted into civil war in a mad scramble for the Emperor's table scraps, or leaving us wide open to some attack from some xenos race.

I love the gleaming hope of the Great Crusade and the despondent grittiness of the 41st Millennium and believe they should be kept separate and undiluted.

What I'd like to see from 30k in 40k actually has nothing to do with the models or the asthetic. I want to see more lists that follow the design ethos of the Legion list, which has the best internal balance I've seen. I'd like to see HH's Lords of War restrictions and options. I'd like to see the excellent campaign systems FW makes get more traction and wider acceptance. I'd like to see Alan Bligh be the head of the Design Studio. I'd like to see more 40k in 40k since I've pretty much quit 40k in favour of the far more enjoyable 30k.

If we take down the velvet rope and allow some of our refined 30K concepts out to benefit the masses, there's a chance that some vulgar 40K nonsense might slip into our more sophisticated community.

I second this. Let's keep the two things seperated for the greater good.

But I still couldn't resist doing this:

The only thing I'd want to make the jump is balance which is unachievable because the WAACs will always mathhammer down the broken combinations, thankfully such is exceedingly rare within the 30k community. On a personal note, a way to play Night Lords/Iron Warriors/Alpha Legion would be amazing since heldrakes/maulerfiends are just :cuss models imo

I'm with I believe the majority of fraters here - the only thing that I conceivably want ported across is the balance and campaign systems... Otherwise I'd still be playing 40k not 30k and be using proxies or whatever it is with the free-for-all of 7th Ed.
