Things from 30k you'd like to see in 40k

I'm pretty much okay with anything in 30k bleeding over to 40k. This obviously is largely due to two things tied to my gaming circumstances: 1. I don't really have any 30k opponents whatsoever near me and 2. I adore FW's designs so much that my Templar crusade has enough 30k gear in it, that it could probably pass off as Sigismunds chapter of Imperial Fists that's been painted up very... blackly.

That said I'm not looking for legion specific or unique troop types to carry over, but it is to FW I look with anticipation for new toys for my marines, rather than GW. The latter gave us Centurions (no disrespect to anyone who appreciates those models) while the former gave us Fire raptors and Sicarans.

30K Orks would be so. Freaking. Cool.

What's the difference though? The only thing I see being added is Urlakk Urg, the Warboss at Ullanor. He'd probably be a Lord of War and be given primarch stats. Aside from that, Orks haven't changed and neither have Eldar for that matter.

It would be cooler if FW rebooted the Orks and Eldar into real threats instead of stupid space elf samurai and football hooligans.

Let me find the cave with my H.S Hockey Team Picture leave DA Boyz alone!!!!!!!!!!

Alan Bligh.

In all seriousness, if I were to win the Euromillions and buy GW making Bligh head of the design studio would be my first appointment. I'd love to see the FW guys let loose on a complete 3rd edition style reboot of the core system and subsequent codexes. I also think the idea of having a core rules book and a book of different factions, with campaign guides featuring all the background and special missions would be a great approach for the studio to take to codexes.

The legion rules are not chapter tactics, the legion rules are revamps of the 'Golden Age' rules from the Index Astartes era, when each FF got great rules.

Thanks for the info.  Still, I can see a lot of CSM players are upset at how "useless" their special rules are.  I'm sure they could use a lot more variety than the 4 Cult marks (and no equivalent to the current "Chapter Tactics" enjoyed by Loyalists)--bringing an adjusted-for-balance 40k version would definitely spice things up for CSM a lot.

0-1 option for a squad of cataphracti or a squad armed with volkites.... That's pretty much it.

How about making old-school weaponry like Volkites more expensive and dependent on bringing Techmarines or Masters of the Forge to the field?

Keep em seperate. If we start bleeding one into the other there is the very real chance that 30k will suffer somehow. Not a good thing.

Well, Erebus and Kor Phaeron are long-established fluff characters in 40k, so I'm sure fan demand will make FW release 40k-era rules for them.  If there is a Word Bearers dataslate codex it'd be great if they could be HQ characters for a Word-Bearers-themed force (though I doubt the 10,000 year difference will be as beneficial to these characters as it was for Abaddon).

Things like the old-school Gal Vorbak (compared to "modern" Possessed Marines) would also be a nice Word-Bearers-specific upgrade in 40k.
